Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Manager, Devices based in Canada.

This is a high-impact product leadership opportunity focused on shaping the future of connected physical devices within a smart transportation ecosystem. You will own a strategic hardware portfolio, balancing customer needs, engineering realities, market dynamics, and commercial objectives. The role goes beyond individual devices, with responsibility for creating scalable, connected platforms that integrate hardware, firmware, edge computing, and cloud software. You will guide products across their full lifecycle, from discovery and business case development through development, launch, and end-of-life. Working across Engineering, Operations, and Go-To-Market teams, you will translate complex signals into a focused product strategy and roadmap. You will also anticipate emerging technologies and industry requirements while ensuring products are rugged, field-ready, economically viable, and easy to deploy. This role is ideal for an experienced product leader who thrives in ambiguity, thinks systemically, and wants to shape products with real-world impact.

Accountabilities

  • Own the strategy, roadmap, adoption, and business outcomes for a critical portfolio of physical device products, ensuring strong integration across the broader hardware and software ecosystem.
  • Define a clear long-term product vision by anticipating technology shifts, analyzing market signals, and identifying opportunities and risks over a one-to-three-year horizon.
  • Develop connected, software-extensible device platforms that account for ruggedization, environmental conditions, installation experience, hardware longevity, and long refresh cycles.
  • Lead the complete hardware product lifecycle from market discovery, concept development, and business case creation through launch, optimization, and end-of-life.
  • Establish continuous internal and external discovery practices to validate assumptions, understand customer needs, and identify opportunities in areas such as edge AI, computing, and sensing.
  • Drive high-stakes product and platform investment decisions using customer insights, technical constraints, supply chain considerations, industry standards, financial targets, and P&L objectives.
  • Build alignment across Engineering, Operations, and Go-To-Market teams around product strategy, priorities, and release plans while navigating differences between hardware and software development cycles.
  • Advocate for the device portfolio through relevant industry standards bodies and working groups, maintaining awareness of regulatory developments and emerging requirements.
  • Develop strong business cases and evaluate product economics, including cost of goods sold, margins, unit economics, and their relationship to broader commercial objectives.
  • Ensure hardware decisions support long-term software evolution and deliver a cohesive experience across sensors, edge computing, firmware, and cloud platforms.

Requirements

  • Significant product management experience with a demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, make strategic decisions, and lead products through ambiguity and complexity.
  • Proven experience managing physical hardware products, particularly rugged, outdoor, industrial, or field-deployed devices.
  • Strong understanding of the trade-offs involved in environmental ratings, physical interfaces, installation experience, device longevity, and long hardware refresh cycles.
  • Systems-thinking mindset with the ability to understand how hardware, sensors, firmware, edge computing, and cloud software combine into a unified product experience.
  • Strong customer discovery skills and experience establishing continuous feedback loops to validate product assumptions before significant engineering investment.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, including an understanding of COGS, margins, unit economics, P&L considerations, and commercial objectives.
  • Experience managing complex product lifecycles, from discovery and development through launch and end-of-life.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to align Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and other stakeholders around a common product strategy.
  • Comfortable making difficult prioritization decisions and strategically saying no when necessary to protect focus, resources, and business outcomes.
  • Experience working with government agencies, municipalities, enterprise buyers, or other organizations with complex procurement processes and extended sales cycles is highly valuable.
  • Ability to understand and respond to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and market developments affecting physical infrastructure products.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, strategic thinking, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to operate effectively both upward and across functions.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation of approximately CA$180,000–CA$200,000, including base salary, with final compensation determined by skills, experience, market conditions, and location.
  • Equity opportunities and eligibility for a discretionary or variable incentive program.
  • Comprehensive health benefits beginning from day one.
  • 24/7 access to virtual healthcare services.
  • Dedicated wellness programs and resources supporting employee well-being.
  • RRSP/401(k) matching program to support long-term financial planning.
  • Flexible vacation policy and dedicated Mio-Days to encourage meaningful time away from work.
  • Flexible work options designed to support different working styles and needs.
  • Internet subsidy and remote work allowance.
  • Enhanced leave programs supporting new parents.
  • Opportunities to work on innovative connected-device and intelligent mobility products with meaningful real-world impact.
