Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Manager, Connectivity Platform based in Canada.

This is a high-impact product leadership opportunity focused on shaping how people securely connect and share financial data across a modern financial ecosystem. You will own the strategy for connectivity capabilities spanning external bank and brokerage account linking and a public application programming interface (API). The role combines platform strategy, technical product thinking, and meaningful client experience ownership. You will work across APIs, data models, platform architecture, authentication, reliability, and user experience to build scalable connectivity solutions. A major focus will be improving connection success, reliability, recovery, and coverage while balancing conversion, fraud, risk, compliance, and operational considerations. You will also influence build-versus-buy decisions, manage external technology partners, and establish reusable capabilities that enable other product teams to build more effectively. This is an opportunity to define a long-term connectivity vision and help advance open banking while giving clients greater control over their financial data.

Accountabilities

  • Define the long-term vision and product strategy for connecting with the broader financial ecosystem, balancing immediate product needs with investments in scalable and reusable platform capabilities.
  • Determine which connectivity capabilities should be developed internally, where external partners should be leveraged, and where differentiated client value can be created.
  • Own the end-to-end experience for connecting external bank and brokerage accounts, including automated and manual linking, institution selection, authentication, error handling, recovery, and connection management.
  • Improve connection success rates, reliability, and institutional coverage while defining routing strategies for determining which connectivity provider should support each institution and flow.
  • Drive reliability improvements and artificial intelligence-powered self-healing capabilities that enable connections to detect, recover from, and resolve failures with reduced manual intervention.
  • Balance conversion, fraud exposure, risk, compliance requirements, and operational workload in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop platform capabilities that allow product teams to consume external financial data consistently and reliably.
  • Own product relationships and integrations with external connectivity vendors, while determining the appropriate long-term balance between proprietary and partner-based connectivity capabilities.
  • Lead the strategy and roadmap for the public API and external financial data connectivity.
  • Make it secure and intuitive for clients to authorize access to their financial data by selected products and services.
  • Define platform capabilities for authentication, consent, permissions, data access, and partner integrations.
  • Identify and prioritize high-value partners, use cases, and opportunities within the broader financial ecosystem.
  • Establish a product vision that gives clients greater control over how their financial data is accessed and shared.
  • Develop and communicate a compelling connectivity strategy, including the metrics, roadmap, investment priorities, and business rationale required to scale the platform.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Design, Security, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and external partners to deliver measurable product outcomes.

Requirements

  • You have experience owning a platform, API, developer product, integrations platform, or similarly complex technical product, with measurable outcomes such as conversion, success rate, reliability, or adoption.
  • You have sufficient technical depth to collaborate effectively with engineers on APIs, authentication, data models, routing, integrations, and platform architecture.
  • You have experience delivering products through external vendors or partners whose roadmaps you do not directly control, including making thoughtful build-versus-buy decisions and holding partners accountable for outcomes.
  • You understand reliability as a product responsibility and are comfortable working with error taxonomies, failure recovery, observability, and operational impact.
  • You have experience balancing growth and customer experience with fraud, risk, security, and compliance considerations.
  • You can translate complex technical capabilities into a clear product strategy, compelling long-term vision, and well-supported investment case.
  • You have strong analytical skills and use data to understand reliability, conversion, coverage, adoption, and overall product performance.
  • You are comfortable establishing measurement frameworks and metrics when existing data or reporting capabilities are incomplete.
  • You demonstrate strong cross-functional leadership and can effectively influence Engineering, Design, Security, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and external partners.
  • You have a strong instinct for simplifying complex systems and creating scalable solutions rather than adding unnecessary layers of complexity.
  • Experience with open banking, Canada’s consumer-driven banking framework, or data-sharing standards is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in financial data aggregation, whether within an aggregator, bank, fintech, or financial technology environment, is a plus.
  • Experience launching a public API or developer platform as a commercial product, including partner onboarding and support, is a plus.
  • You are a strategic and pragmatic product thinker who can operate comfortably across technical infrastructure, external ecosystems, and client-facing experiences.

Benefits

  • Top-tier health benefits and life insurance.
  • Long-term group savings program with an employer match.
  • 20 vacation days and 4 wellness days per year.
  • Unlimited sick days and mental health days.
  • Ability to work outside Canada for up to 90 days per year.
  • Employee resource groups and opportunities to participate in community-focused initiatives.
  • Opportunity to work with a large, distributed team of talented, curious, and highly driven professionals across North America.
  • Exposure to modern technology, artificial intelligence, and innovative approaches to product development.
  • Significant staff-level ownership and influence over a critical connectivity platform.
  • Opportunity to shape financial data connectivity, open banking capabilities, and client control over financial information.
  • Accessibility accommodations are available throughout the hiring process.
