Full description
Horizon Five is a practitioner-led consulting firm helping organizations improve performance through data, analytics, automation, AI, business process redesign, and practical transformation. We are not traditional consultants. Our team brings hands-on operating experience and partners with clients to solve real problems, strengthen controls, improve workflows, and build sustainable capability.
Role Overview
Horizon Five is seeking a hands-on Senior Analyst with strong technical depth in data, analytics, automation, and delivery execution. This role is ideal for someone who can work directly on client projects, build and improve automation workflows, coordinate day-to-day delivery from offshore developer resources, and help ensure technical work is accurate, tested, documented, and client-ready.
This is not a strategy-only role. The right candidate will be close to the work, comfortable building in tools like Alteryx and Power BI, and able to translate client and manager direction into clear technical tasks. This person will support managers and directors on client engagements while growing into a broader delivery leadership role over time.
Scope Snapshot
- Level: Senior Analyst, hands-on execution lead, below manager level
- Core Focus: Data automation, analytics, workflow build, offshore delivery coordination, and quality control
- Client Role: Approximately 75% execution and technical delivery, 25% client-facing coordination
- Delivery Model: Works directly on client engagements while coordinating output from offshore developer resources
- Compensation Target: Approximately $100,000 to $125,000 base salary, with flexibility for strong technical depth
What You Will Do
- Build, enhance, and support data automation workflows, reporting outputs, dashboards, and analytics solutions for client engagements.
- Use tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, SQL, Excel and Power Query, and other automation or analytics platforms to improve client processes and reporting.
- Translate client requirements, process needs, and manager direction into clear technical workplans, user stories, offshore developer tasks, and acceptance criteria.
- Manage day-to-day execution from offshore development resources, including assigning work, reviewing outputs, clarifying requirements, and ensuring delivery quality.
- Stay close enough to client engagements to understand context, dependencies, priorities, and business impact rather than managing offshore delivery blindly.
- Apply strong UAT discipline, quality checks, documentation standards, and review processes before work is shared with clients.
- Support managers and directors in running client workstreams, tracking status, managing open items, and escalating risks or blockers.
- Participate in client working sessions when needed to gather requirements, explain work products, review outputs, and confirm next steps.
- Document workflows, technical logic, assumptions, data inputs, outputs, testing steps, and handoff materials.
- Help improve Horizon Five internal delivery playbooks, reusable automation assets, offshore coordination model, and quality control standards.
What Success Looks Like
- Client deliverables are accurate, well-tested, documented, and ready for manager or client review.
- Offshore developer resources are productive because requirements are clear, context is understood, and outputs are reviewed before escalation.
- Managers and directors can rely on this person to move day-to-day delivery forward without constant hand-holding.
- Data workflows, automations, reports, and dashboards are practical, scalable, and aligned to client needs.
- Project risks, quality issues, and requirement gaps are surfaced early instead of becoming client-facing delivery problems.
- The candidate grows into a stronger technical delivery lead and potential offshore management layer over time.
What We Are Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in data analytics, automation, business intelligence, analytics engineering, technical consulting, or related delivery work.
- Strong hands-on proficiency with Alteryx and Power BI. SQL, Excel and Power Query, Python, Tableau, or similar tools are a plus.
- Experience building or supporting data workflows, dashboards, reporting processes, automation logic, data preparation, or analytics solutions.
- Ability to manage technical tasks across multiple resources, including offshore developers or distributed delivery teams.
- Strong attention to detail, testing discipline, documentation habits, and ability to identify quality issues before they reach the client.
- Comfort working in a consulting or client-service environment where priorities can shift and ambiguity needs to be turned into executable next steps.
- Ability to communicate clearly with managers, technical resources, and client stakeholders.
- Finance, FP&A, accounting, SOX, reporting, or operational process experience is helpful, but technical depth and delivery execution are the priority.
- Big Four, consulting, digital transformation, analytics, automation, or shared services delivery experience is a plus.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Senior analyst who is technically strong and ready to take on more delivery ownership.
- Strong Alteryx and Power BI user who enjoys building workflows, solving data problems, and improving how work gets done.
- Comfortable coordinating offshore developer work while remaining hands-on enough to review, troubleshoot, and improve the output.
- Practical problem solver who can move quickly, ask good questions, document decisions, and create structure without a large team around them.
- Low ego, high ownership, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-moving consulting environment.
- Interested in growing into a manager-level role over time by building delivery leadership, client-facing skills, and offshore team management capability.
