Advance Paper Box Ltd is seeking a Quality Technician to join our team, who will be responsible for maintaining and implementing the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS). The Quality Technician assists the Quality Assurance Manager in ensuring APB’s facilities meet food safety and quality assurance compliance requirements in accordance with GFSI-FSSC22000, ISO22000, and ISO9001 standards.

The successful candidate must be highly motivated and possess excellent communication, prospecting, and multitasking skills, as well as a professional attitude and the ability to manage various duties effectively.

Job Location: Onsite, Mon to Fri- 8 am to 4:30 pm

Salary Range: $20/hr- $25/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating, formatting, maintaining, revising, and archiving documented information required by the FSQMS, including FSQ policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), HACCP, and records.
  • Maintain the Food Safety and Quality Communication Board according to the Food Safety and Quality Culture Plan.
  • Maintain the FSQMS Training Matrix and ensure employees complete online and in-person training as scheduled.
  • Assist in coordinating and delivering quarterly town hall meetings to each shift.
  • Maintain documented information on the shared drive, maintain a change log for documented information, and update forms on ERP (e.g., ensure current forms are available on ERP).
  • Monitor and document the completion of the food safety and quality checks by operators in the production process to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Perform random quality checks in the production process during each shift and department.
  • Perform shift monitoring of the facility and personnel to ensure compliance with the Prerequisite Programs, including performing monthly locker inspections and monthly premises inspections.
  • Assist in conducting annual internal audits according to schedule.
  • Maintain the measuring equipment list, perform annual calibration for measuring tapes and calipers, and coordinate annual 3rd party calibration for weighing scales.
  • Maintain the glass and brittle plastic list and perform monthly glass and brittle plastic monitoring.
  • Perform annual water sampling and ship samples to the authorized lab for water testing, as required by the Utilities and Environmental Program.
  • Maintain NCR, CAR, and complaint log.
  • Collect product samples from the production run and file them in the sample database.
  • Maintain a sample database to ensure there are always available samples for each product.
  • Assist in completing supplier evaluations requested by customers.
  • Fill up PPE holders, and make sure employees have gloves, single-blade knives, and other necessary tools.
  • Maintain inventory of PPE and other supplies needed by the FSQMS.
  • Assist in the implementation of continuous improvements to the FSQMS.
  • Assist in the implementation of the Workplace Health and Safety Program.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s Degree/college diploma in a food safety/science program is an asset.
  • 1-3 years’ previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Experience working in quality management systems, including GFSI and ISO, is an asset.
  • Exceptional writing ability, verbal communication and relationship-management skills required.
  • Self-starter with the capacity to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities.
  • The ability to multitask and work effectively under minimal supervision is required.
  • Intermediate to exceptional MS Office skills.
