Senior Android Engineer (Kotlin & AWS)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Android Engineer (Kotlin & AWS) based in Brazil.

Join a cloud-native engineering team building modern, customer-facing mobile applications and digital experiences for international clients. This hands-on role combines deep native Android development expertise with Kotlin, AWS, modern application architecture, testing, and CI/CD. You will design and deliver production-ready mobile solutions while collaborating with Engineers, Architects, Engineering Managers, and Project Managers. The position offers the opportunity to work on complex mobile initiatives involving APIs, cloud services, SDKs, deep linking, attribution, and customer journeys. You will also work directly with customer engineering teams, contributing technical expertise and communicating decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly. Accountabilities:

• Design, build, maintain, and enhance production-grade native Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android development practices.

• Collaborate with Architects and Engineering Managers to translate technical requirements into scalable, reliable mobile solutions.

• Apply appropriate application architecture, software design patterns, engineering best practices, and strong software development fundamentals.

• Integrate mobile applications with APIs, SDKs, cloud services, backend systems, and external platforms.

• Contribute to initiatives involving mobile tracking, attribution, deep linking, in-app experiences, and customer journey optimization.

• Write, review, document, and deploy production-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code.

• Build and maintain automated testing practices and CI/CD pipelines supporting Android application delivery.

• Work with AWS services and cloud-native architectures that support mobile applications and digital experiences.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across development, staging, and production environments.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and demonstrations.

• Collaborate directly with customer engineering teams and communicate technical decisions, progress, risks, and trade-offs effectively.

• Contribute to continuous improvements across architecture, development practices, engineering quality, and delivery processes.

• Continuously optimize the usability and overall experience of mobile applications.

Requirements:

• Strong professional experience developing and supporting production-grade native Android applications.

• Deep hands-on experience with Kotlin and modern native Android development.

• Strong understanding of Android application architecture, software design patterns, and application lifecycle concepts.

• Experience designing, developing, testing, reviewing, and deploying production applications.

• Strong experience integrating native mobile applications with APIs, SDKs, backend systems, and cloud services.

• Solid experience working with AWS cloud services and cloud-based architectures.

• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and mobile delivery automation.

• Strong knowledge of testing, automation, and software quality practices.

• Experience working within Agile software development environments.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across development and production environments.

• Ability to clearly explain technical decisions, trade-offs, risks, and solutions.

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, particularly in customer-facing environments.

• Experience participating in code reviews and collaborating effectively with cross-functional and international teams.

• Experience with Java, particularly supporting or modernizing legacy Android applications, is a plus.

• Familiarity with mobile attribution, analytics, deep linking, third-party mobile SDKs, Firebase, AppsFlyer or similar platforms, CDP/customer-data integrations, and marketing technology initiatives is advantageous.

• Exposure to React, Node.js, TypeScript, Python, Generative AI technologies, or UI/UX is also considered a plus.
