Job Overview

We are seeking detail-oriented Cybersecurity Threat Analysts to review and evaluate cybersecurity data using expert human judgment.

In this role, you will analyse security logs, alerts, potentially malicious code, and other security-related information to identify relevant threats and patterns. You will provide accurate and consistent evaluations based on cybersecurity knowledge and defined project guidelines.

Your assessments will help create high-quality, human-verified data used to train and evaluate security systems. This work will support the ability of automated systems to identify emerging threats and distinguish relevant security risks from normal activity.

An ideal candidate has a strong foundation in cybersecurity and threat analysis and is comfortable working with technical security data. You should be able to interpret security information, identify potential threats, and make informed decisions in complex or ambiguous situations.

  • Contract Type: Freelance, with the potential to convert to a full-time role.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate security logs, alerts, and other cybersecurity-related data according to defined project guidelines.
  • Analyse security events and technical information to identify potential threats, suspicious activity, or relevant patterns.
  • Review potentially malicious code and identify relevant security characteristics where required.
  • Apply cybersecurity knowledge and expert human judgment when evaluating complex or ambiguous information.
  • Classify, label, or annotate security-related data accurately and consistently.
  • Distinguish between normal, suspicious, and potentially malicious activity based on available information and project guidelines.
  • Identify relevant threat patterns, attack techniques, or indicators that may require further review.
  • Provide human-verified evaluations to support the training and improvement of automated security systems.
  • Document decisions and supporting reasoning clearly when required.
  • Identify unclear, incomplete, or complex cases and flag them according to defined project processes.
  • Apply detailed project guidelines consistently across assigned tasks.
  • Maintain high levels of quality, accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational background or equivalent experience in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in cybersecurity analysis, threat analysis, security operations, incident response, malware analysis, or a related cybersecurity field.
  • Strong understanding of common cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, attack techniques, and security concepts.
  • Experience reviewing or analysing security logs, alerts, events, or other technical security data.
  • Ability to identify suspicious activity, potential threats, and relevant security patterns.
  • Familiarity with malicious code, malware, or suspicious system activity is preferred.
  • Understanding of common threat detection concepts and security controls is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make informed and consistent decisions based on technical information and defined guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy across large volumes of data.
  • Ability to understand and consistently apply detailed project guidelines.
  • Strong written English comprehension and documentation skills.
  • Experience with security data analysis, AI evaluation, data annotation, or structured technical data review is preferred.
