Your mission

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Fire & Security Systems Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be a multidisciplined engineer with more than 7 years of experience. Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and fault-finding of fire alarm and electronic security systems at customer premises.

The role will cover a range of systems, including fire alarms, CCTV and access control, and will involve both planned and reactive work. You will be expected to deliver a professional service to customers while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required technical and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm systems.
  • Install, commission, service and maintain CCTV systems, including IP and network-based systems.
  • Install, commission, service and maintain access control systems.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance visits in accordance with service schedules.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to fire and security systems.
  • Respond to reactive service calls and customer-reported faults.
  • Carry out system testing and ensure equipment is operating correctly before completion of works.
  • Identify defective, obsolete or non-compliant equipment and recommend appropriate remedial works.
  • Complete accurate service reports, commissioning documentation and other required paperwork.
  • Maintain clear records of work undertaken, parts used and outstanding remedial actions.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, site contacts, contractors and other engineers.
  • Explain system operation and basic user functions to customers where required.
  • Ensure installations and maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with relevant standards, manufacturer requirements and company procedures.
  • Work safely and comply with company health and safety requirements at all times.
  • Maintain company-issued tools, test equipment, vehicle and stock to an appropriate standard.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours/on-call rota where required.
  • Identify opportunities for system improvements, upgrades and additional works and communicate these appropriately to the business.
  • Undertake training to maintain and develop technical knowledge across fire and security systems.

Skills & Experience

Essential: • Previous experience working as a Fire & Security Engineer, Service Engineer or similar field-based engineering role.

  • Practical experience with fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with CCTV and/or access control systems.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
  • Good understanding of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, system schematics and specifications.
  • Comfortable working independently at customer sites and managing your own workload.
  • Good communication and customer-service skills.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to complete accurate documentation.
  • Competent using mobile devices, apps and electronic job-management systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience across a range of fire alarm manufacturers and platforms.
  • Experience with IP CCTV, networking and remote connectivity.
  • Experience with different access control platforms.
  • Relevant fire alarm, electrical or security industry qualifications.
  • Knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry codes of practice, including those applicable to fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Experience commissioning new systems and carrying out system modifications.
  • Experience working in commercial, industrial or multi-site environments.

Working Conditions This is a field-based role involving travel to customer premises. The engineer will be required to work across a variety of commercial and other customer environments.

The role may involve working at height, using ladders or access equipment, working in plant rooms and other restricted areas, and carrying tools and equipment.

Some early starts, late finishes and out-of-hours work may occasionally be required depending on customer and operational requirements. Salary/ Benefits
