This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Security Software Engineer, Anti-Abuse/Trust & Safety (Global) based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to protect a rapidly scaling digital platform and its users from sophisticated abuse, fraud, and security threats.You will join a focused Trust & Safety engineering environment where your work directly strengthens platform resilience and user trust.The position combines hands-on software engineering with security engineering, threat analysis, and anti-abuse system development.You will design and implement preventative controls while investigating incidents and responding to emerging abuse patterns.Working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams, you will help ensure new capabilities launch with strong security protections built in.The role suits an autonomous problem solver who enjoys complex challenges, rapid iteration, and meaningful technical ownership.You will have high visibility and the opportunity to shape anti-abuse capabilities as the organization continues its global growth.

Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve security and anti-abuse capabilities within core product systems.
  • Partner closely with Trust & Safety engineering teams to define technical strategies, solve complex security challenges, and strengthen preventative controls.
  • Design systems that identify, mitigate, and prevent malicious, fraudulent, or abusive activity across the platform.
  • Participate in and lead code reviews for security-sensitive features, promoting strong engineering practices, maintainability, and code quality.
  • Support the development and refinement of machine learning models by helping collect, organize, and prepare high-quality training data.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other cross-functional teams to ensure new products and features are launched with appropriate security and anti-abuse protections.
  • Investigate security incidents, abuse reports, and emerging threats, identifying root causes and implementing effective remediation.
  • Monitor evolving security threats, fraud patterns, and anti-abuse techniques and translate relevant findings into practical platform improvements.
  • Implement and manage integrations with third-party security, fraud, identity, and anti-abuse products within production environments.
  • Contribute to threat intelligence and preventative security initiatives by anticipating potential attack vectors and designing controls before threats become widespread.
  • Adapt quickly across projects, technologies, and priorities while maintaining a strong balance between delivery speed, technical quality, and security.
  • Share knowledge with teammates and contribute constructively to a collaborative engineering culture through technical discussions and code reviews.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience building and maintaining production software systems.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails or a comparable MVC backend framework.
  • Strong understanding of full-stack web architectures and how applications and services behave in production environments.
  • Experience with modern testing frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Jest, Selenium, or RSpec.
  • Solid understanding of computer networking fundamentals, including subnetting, DNS, HTTP, and HTTPS protocols.
  • Practical experience with security and anti-abuse technologies such as WAF rules, Cloudflare, reCAPTCHA, and comparable protection systems.
  • Familiarity with threat intelligence feeds, fraud prevention, security platforms, KYC solutions, or enterprise security tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break complex security problems into manageable components and identify root causes.
  • A security-oriented or “hacker” mindset, with curiosity about how systems can be exploited and the ability to anticipate malicious behavior and attack vectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to think abstractly and creatively when addressing emerging or poorly defined security threats.
  • Strong technical judgment and a proven ability to take ownership of systems and projects over time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical and security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a small, highly autonomous engineering team and contribute constructive feedback during technical discussions and code reviews.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities, switching contexts, and adapting to new technologies in a fast-moving environment.
  • A proactive, quality-focused approach with the resilience and persistence needed to solve difficult technical problems.
  • Ability to balance high engineering standards with pragmatism, speed, and delivery requirements.
