U.S. Consumer Cards (USCC) is a core business unit within Citibank and includes several Card Products, Finance/Accounting teams including Cross Portfolio & Reporting Controllership. Cross Portfolio & Reporting Controllership provides subject matter expertise and support to the Partnership Cards and Development Controllership with accounting process execution, GAAP application, controls, and reporting support for USCC. Major partner relationships within USCC include Costco, American Airlines, The Home Depot (THD), Best Buy, Macy’s, AT&T, LL Bean, and numerous other smaller portfolios. The Cross Portfolio & Reporting and Partnership Cards Controllers organizations are part of the Global Function unit within Citi.
The Finance Accounting Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and the business in general. Such individual is recognized for technical authority for their area within the business. The role requires knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, basic commercial awareness, and development and utilization of clear communication and diplomacy skills. It also requires the ability to guide, influence and convince others, in particular, colleagues in other areas. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.
Finance Accounting Lead Analyst will report to the Finance Accounting Group Manager for the Cross Portfolio & Reporting team. This team is responsible for accurate and timely processing of accounting processes, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and control matters for the credit card portfolio within USCC. The individual in this role will work across functions including Controller's Organization, the Business, Lead Finance Officers (LFOs), FP&A, Technology, and internal and external auditors on matters related to accounting and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the Unbilled Interest accrual process for credit cards, upholding both GAAP and internal policies and procedures.
- Oversees automated accounting functions and performs systemic validations between subledgers and general ledger.
- Takes responsibility for the accurate reporting of accounting reconciliations on Citi reporting tools.
- Reviews and challenges key controls across multiple accounting processes.
- Focuses on the implementation of policies and procedures; ensures essential procedures are followed and contributes to defining standards.
- Provides governance and oversight of internal and external financial and regulatory reporting, including internal management reporting, and FRB and SEC reporting.
- Partners with key stakeholders including LFOs, FP&A, Technology, Regulatory Reporting, Legal Entity Managers, Balance Sheet Control Group (BSCG), etc., across multiple locations communicating progress on assigned process completion.
- Identifies and appropriately highlights / escalates actual or potential issues relating to subject matter under ownership with stakeholders and collaborates with them for resolution.
- Applies in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and advanced knowledge of other areas to resolve issues that have impact beyond own area.
- Demonstrates an advanced understanding of how multiple processes collectively integrate to contribute to achieving business goals.
- Directly impacts the leadership in multiple processes through responsibility for development and execution of business solutions leading to delivery of end results.
- Contributes to risk management by following controls and delivering management control attestation (MCA) requirements.
- Persuades and influences others through effective communication and diplomacy skills.
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.

- Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
- Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Performs calculations of GL entries for various ad hoc accounting adjustments as needed.
- Participates in monthly/quarterly financial statement reviews; identifies drivers of period-over-period variances; validates 10Q disclosures relevant to the business.
- Prepares and distributes monthly reports relating to Unbilled Interest accrual.
- Supports regulatory reporting deliverables as assigned, including FRB monthly and annual reporting.
- Displays flexibility and calmness in response to challenging demands.
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) / Master in business administration (MBA)/ Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent combination of education
- 6+ years of experience in accounting management with commensurate stakeholder management experience

- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
