Overview XBOX Growth Intelligence is seeking a Data Scientist, Product Analytics to partner with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional business owners to improve XBOX experiences through data-driven decision making. This role helps teams understand player behavior, measure product performance, identify growth opportunities, and evaluate product investments. You will work on high-impact product challenges across XBOX and help teams make better decisions through experimentation, measurement, forecasting, and behavioral analytics. The Data Scientist enables product teams to make more data-driven investment decisions, delivering actionable insights that contribute to measurable improvements in DAU, retention, engagement, and other business outcomes, and building reusable analytical solutions that accelerate decision-making across XBOX.
Responsibilities
- Embed with Product Managers, Engineers, and cross-functional business owners to understand product challenges. Identify and size opportunities to improve player experience and business outcomes. Influence Product roadmap and set up operating metrics and targets to measure impact.
- Analyze player acquisition, engagement, retention, monetization, and lifecycle behavior patterns. Translate business questions into structured analysis and actionable recommendations to inform hypotheses.
- Design and interpret A/B test learnings. Recommend next iterations.
- Build reusable analytical assets and contribute to self-service measurement capabilities.
- Partner with data engineering teams to improve telemetry, data quality, and measurement infrastructure.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using SQL and Python, R and agentic AI tools.
- Experience applying experimentation, statistical analysis, forecasting, or product analytics techniques to business problems.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.

Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
