What You'll Do

As a Financial Analyst joining our Business Owner Segment Actuarial Team, you'll blend technical analysis with business partnership, leveraging tools such as Excel, SAS, and R to support actuarial studies, reporting, and product performance analysis. In this role, you'll work on a variety of projects ranging from experience studies and in-force pricing analysis to supporting new product implementations and ongoing business operations. You'll also collaborate closely with actuarial teams and internal partners, providing analytical support and helping resolve questions related to in-force policies.

  • Analyze and interpret financial, actuarial, and operational data to support life and disability insurance products.
  • Conduct experience studies and in-force product analysis to evaluate trends, performance, and profitability.
  • Develop reports, models, and insights using analytical tools such as Excel, SAS, and R.
  • Partner with actuarial, product, and business teams to support strategic initiatives, product launches, and ongoing business needs.
  • Provide analytical support and respond to inquiries related to existing policies, product performance, and business operations.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in math, actuarial science, finance or related field or equivalent experience required
  • Must have strong problem solving, leadership and analytical skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills required
  • Experience/Familiarity with Excel (work with formulas, pivot tables, macros, etc..)

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Aptitude in programming languages SAS and R is preferred
  • Experience in Life Insurance

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$24.21 - $38.37 / hour Salary Details

The following salary ranges reflect market-specific compensation for this position across multiple job levels. Candidates will be evaluated to determine the appropriate job level based on their skills and experience.

  • Financial Analyst I: $24.21 - $32.43 / hour (Non-Exempt)
  • Financial Analyst II: $58,900 - $79,800 / year (Exempt)

Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Pension Eligible

This role offers in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangements in Des Moines, Iowa.

Financial Analyst II:

  • Bachelor's degree in math, actuarial science, finance or equivalent experience required
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience preferred
