In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading traffic engineering workstreams for major infrastructure projects, including transit expansions, corridor reconstructions, highway and interchange improvements, grade separations and complex municipal capital programs.
  • Preparing project management plans and managing project scope, schedule, budget, technical deliverables and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Leading traffic operations and corridor studies, including capacity analysis, traffic forecasting, intersection analysis, network operations and multimodal assessments.
  • Leading the development and review of Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Temporary Traffic Management Plans (TTMPs) for complex construction staging, including lane closures, detours, staging alternatives, traffic control strategies and mitigation measures.
  • Leading and providing technical oversight of traffic modelling and microsimulation assignments to assess network operations, construction staging impacts, transit operations and multimodal interactions.
  • Leading traffic safety assessments, collision analyses, road safety reviews, traffic calming studies and Vision Zero-related assignments.
  • Applying data-driven approaches using traffic counts, travel times, collision records, mobility data, GIS and other transportation datasets to identify issues, assess system performance and develop operational and safety recommendations.
  • Providing traffic engineering input to Municipal Class Environmental Assessments, transportation master plans, corridor studies, preliminary and functional design assignments, alternatives evaluations and related planning studies.
  • Coordinating with municipalities, transit agencies, MTO, Metrolinx and other approval authorities, and presenting technical findings and recommendations to clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Supporting client and pipeline development for the City of Ottawa, MTO, NCC and municipalities across Eastern Ontario.
  • Serving as capture manager and/or technical lead for proposals ranging from focused traffic assignments to large multidisciplinary infrastructure pursuits.
  • Collaborating with internal Canadian and US counterparts to execute workshare and coordinate staff resourcing.
  • Supervising and mentoring engineers, planners and analysts in traffic operations, traffic modelling, transportation data analytics, road safety and technical project delivery.
  • Maintaining a high level of technical quality on projects and supporting quality management and technical review processes.
