What you’ll Do:
- Define long‑term technical direction for cloud, platform, and DevOps practices across the organization
- Act as an organization‑level technical authority for AWS architecture, Kubernetes strategy, and platform design
- Lead cross‑team technical initiatives that improve reliability, scalability, security, and delivery efficiency
- Establish and evolve engineering standards, reference architectures, and best practices adopted across teams
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Security leadership to align platform strategy with business objectives
- Drive systemic improvements by identifying architectural risks, operational bottlenecks, and technical debt
- Guide incident management maturity through resilience patterns, observability strategy, and reliability engineering principles
- Influence build‑vs‑buy decisions, tooling strategy, and platform roadmap at an organizational level
- Mentor engineers across teams and levels, developing technical leaders and raising engineering standards
- Remain hands‑on selectively for high‑impact design, prototyping, and complex technical problem solving
The Ideal candidate will have:
- Around 10 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering positions and preferably with 2 years in leadership roles
- Proven experience defining and driving cloud and platform strategy across multiple teams or domains
- Deep expertise in AWS architecture, including multi‑account, multi‑region, and regulated environments
- Expert‑level knowledge of Kubernetes ecosystem, including cluster architecture, security models, and scaling patterns
- Strong background in Infrastructure as Code design at scale, including governance and standardization
- Experience shaping CI/CD strategy and platform enablement rather than owning individual pipelines
- Demonstrated leadership in improving system reliability, resilience, and operational maturity across organizations
- Track record of influencing architectural decisions and technical direction beyond a single team
- Strong ability to translate complex technical trade‑offs into clear guidance for senior stakeholders
- Experience incorporating AI-powered tools into development workflows to improve quality, productivity and maintainability with appropriate review and controls
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics
- Experience working in an agile environment
- Experience working in international/multi-site environments
with exposure to remote-team setup and tools
- Experience working in early-stage technology companies (advantage)
- Experience working in a pharmaceutical regulated industry (advantage)
Location and Travel: (Dublin)
- Hybrid role - Dublin City Centre, Ireland, currently this is set to 2 days per week onsite.
- Our Dublin City Centre offices are located less than 3 mins for Pearse St Dart Station and beside the Alex Hotel, making it accessible for all major transport.
