Full description

Calix is seeking a highly experienced Staff Solutions Test Engineer based in Nanjing, China to drive quality engineering initiatives across our Cloud and AI platforms. This role is responsible for defining and executing end-to-end solution testing strategies for cloud-native applications, AI-powered services, and large-scale distributed systems.

You will work closely with Product Management, Development, Architecture, DevOps, and Customer Success teams to ensure product quality, scalability, reliability, and customer readiness. This position is ideal for someone passionate about cloud technologies, AI systems, performance engineering, and building innovative testing solutions

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, document, and execute verification of solution test strategy and test plans individually and as part of a team, cloud scale testing is also part of this.
  • Identify and report software issues with clear and concise problem description, track the progress of tickets with daily basis.
  • Develop AI test framework to support AI automation.
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted testing tools and frameworks
  • Develop simulation tools and traffic generators to mimic real customer behavior at scale.
  • Work with customer service and dev team to reproduce and identify problems. 
  • Work with local and remote test engineers to support test automation. 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree and above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Communication Engineering or Software Test Engineering. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • 12 years’ experience in telecommunications development or software test environment. 
  • Experience in cloud testing and familiar with AWS, Google cloud or Azure.  
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI GPT, Gemini and Claude, familiar with RAG architectures.
  • Experience in developing AI test automation platforms or any other approach to improve test efficiency.
  • Experience in cloud data base including Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra, Aurora etc.. 
  • Good troubleshooting/debugging skills in extracting necessary data via ELK tools, Kubernetes, Database, Linux/Docker, network. 
  • Experience in Cloud performance monitoring dashboards, including Grafana/Zabbix/Kubernetes Dashboard/AWS CloudWatch etc
  • Ability to analytically break down complex cloud problems and clarify the issues. 
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.  
  • Self-motivated, process oriented, and detail oriented. 

Nice to have: 

  • Strong data communications knowledge. 
  • Strong knowledge of smart home deployment and user cases.
