Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a Java Engineer to support and enhance Internal Applications within the Tax Administration environment. This role focuses on maintaining live services, supporting batch processing, and delivering controlled change across a complex enterprise landscape. The successful candidate will bring strong enterprise Java development expertise while balancing business-as-usual support with continuous improvement initiatives in a collaborative hybrid working environment.
What you will do:
- Develop and support enterprise Java applications within the Tax Administration environment.
- Maintain live services and ensure the stability, availability, and performance of critical internal applications.
- Support batch processing activities and resolve operational issues in a timely manner.
- Deliver controlled application changes while adhering to established release and governance processes.
- Develop, optimize, and support complex Oracle SQL queries.
- Manage source code using Git within controlled version control and release management processes.
- Build and manage application dependencies using Maven.
- Deploy and support applications running on WebLogic application servers.
- Work with containerized platforms, including Kubernetes, to support enterprise application deployments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver enhancements and continuous service improvements.
- Balance business-as-usual support with change initiatives across complex application landscapes.
- Travel regularly to the Telford office to support team collaboration.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience developing and supporting Java applications within enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience working with WebLogic application servers.
- Strong Oracle SQL skills, including developing and supporting complex queries.
- Experience using Git for version control within controlled release environments.
- Experience with Maven for build and dependency management.
- Experience working with containerized platforms, including Kubernetes.
- Proven ability to support live services while delivering continuous improvements.
- Strong collaboration, ownership, and problem-solving skills within complex enterprise environments.
- Ability to balance operational support with project-based change delivery.
- Experience with shell scripting to support operational or batch processing activities is preferred.
- Experience working within Linux environments and using command-line tools is preferred.
