Business Data Analyst / Senior Business Data Analyst

Short Summary We are seeking a highly motivated (Senior) Business Data Analyst (Data Enablement) to join our Data Analytics Platform team. This role is focused on bridging business and technical teams by gathering and clarifying business needs for data usage, reporting, analytics, and decision support, and translating them into clear data and functional requirements. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting data enablement initiatives, improving trust in platform data, and contributing to data platform transformation and continuous improvement efforts.

Job Duties

• Gather and clarify business needs for data usage, reporting, analytics, and decision support.

• Work closely with Data Engineers and platform teams to translate business needs into clear data and functional requirements.

• Support data enablement activities such as data documentation, data discoverability, data usage guidance, and user adoption.

• Help improve trust in platform data by supporting data quality follow-up, issue tracking, and business validation.

• Coordinate with governance and business teams on data definitions, standards, and usage practices.

• Facilitate workshops, requirement discussions, testing, and post-implementation follow-up.

• Support the team in data platform transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience in business analysis, data enablement, data platform delivery, data product services, or related roles.

• Experience working with data platforms, data warehouses, or enterprise data environments is preferred. Experience in financial services, such as banking, insurance, wealth management, or pension services, is highly desirable.

• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly in business language while working effectively with technical teams.

• Sound understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata, reporting processes, and the relationship between business processes, data pipelines, and platform capabilities.

• Experience supporting data platform development, maintenance, or transformation initiatives is preferred.

Ideal Candidate

• Proficient in both spoken and written English and Chinese, including Mandarin and Cantonese.

• Drives excellence through a strong sense of ownership, a continuous improvement mindset, and a proactive approach to delivering high-quality outcomes.

• Professional certifications related to data management, analytics, reporting, or project delivery will be considered an advantage.

• Working experience with government projects will be an advantage.

• Candidates with less experience may also be considered for the Business Data Analyst (Data Enablement) role, depending on their overall skills, potential, and fit for the position.
