We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist
What you will do:
- Advocacy and Evangelism: Act as a key advocate for POET principles within application team or business unit.Promote best practices, standards, and the adoption of POET frameworks and tools. Organise and lead knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and training to upskill colleagues
- OKR (Objectives and Key Results) Ownership: Define, track, and report on OKRs related to DevOps adoption and maturity. Collaborate with stakeholders to align OKRs with business and technology goals. Ensure regular updates and transparent communication on OKR progress and GCIO priorities
- Collaboration and Production Support Stakeholder Management: Serve as the main point of contact between engineering/product teams and the central PSM team. Facilitate cross-team collaboration to resolve blockers and share learnings post PIR. Gather feedback from teams and escalate challenges or suggestions to the leadership
- Engineering Excellence: Guide teams through the implementation of DevSecOps standards, frameworks, and tooling. Provide hands-on support for onboarding new projects or services as POET offerings. Monitor compliance and adoption, identifying areas for improvement.
- Continuous Improvement :Identify opportunities for process, tooling, or framework enhancements. Collect and analyse metrics to measure the impact of POET initiatives. Drive continuous improvement by sharing success stories and lessons learned.
- Risk and Issue Management : Proactively identify risks and issues related to TRCB and GRAS. Work with relevant teams to mitigate risks and resolve issues promptly. Ensure compliance with HSBC’s risk and governance frameworks. Reporting and Communication wise Prepare and deliver regular status updates to leadership and stakeholders. Maintain clear documentation of POET adoption, challenges, and outcomes. Communicate changes, updates, and new initiatives effectively across teams.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- Extensive, hands-on experience as a senior engineer or architect, with deep expertise in Core Java and building scalable Microservices-based architectures.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering complex, large-scale systems from scratch in the financial services domain, preferably in post-trade processing.
- Strong, practical knowledge of DevSecOps principles and tools, with experience building and managing automated CI/CD pipelines. Demonstrable experience with AI in software development, including the use of AI coding assistants and an ability to articulate the business value of AI-driven solutions.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers, drive technical decisions, and foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
- Deep understanding of the trade lifecycle, clearing, settlement, and securities servicing is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment.
