Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Software Architect based in the United States.

This is a senior architecture role focused on shaping scalable, secure, cloud-native enterprise platforms and modernization strategies. You will provide technical direction across software architecture, engineering standards, cloud platforms, enterprise integration, and emerging AI capabilities. The role combines hands-on architectural leadership with the opportunity to accelerate the adoption of Generative AI and AI-assisted software engineering. You will design platforms across AWS and Kubernetes while strengthening scalability, security, reliability, and developer productivity. You will also contribute to enterprise data and analytics solutions, API integration, and modern identity and access architectures. Working across engineering and technology teams, you will establish technical standards, mentor developers, and guide complex modernization initiatives. This is an opportunity for an experienced architect to influence enterprise technology strategy while working with modern cloud, AI, data, and security technologies.

Accountabilities

• Design and guide scalable, secure, cloud-native enterprise architectures, modernization strategies, and technical standards aligned with organizational objectives.

• Lead software architecture practices, establish engineering standards, and guide development teams in adopting modern architectural patterns.

• Architect enterprise platforms using AWS and Kubernetes, including frameworks that improve scalability, security, reliability, resilience, and developer efficiency.

• Drive enterprise adoption of Generative AI by designing task-specific AI agents and enabling AI-assisted software engineering practices.

• Promote specification-driven development and the responsible use of AI engineering tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot.

• Develop enterprise data integration and analytics solutions using Databricks, third-party APIs, and scalable data architecture patterns.

• Design high-performance integration architectures that support reliable data exchange across enterprise systems and services.

• Architect secure identity and access management solutions using Zero Trust principles, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, Okta, and Keycloak.

• Ensure architecture decisions support security, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and long-term maintainability.

• Establish reusable frameworks, patterns, and technical standards that enable consistent enterprise software development.

• Partner with engineering teams to modernize applications using cloud-native architectures, microservices, serverless technologies, and containerized platforms.

• Mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership across architecture, development, cloud engineering, security, and modernization initiatives.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve platform capabilities, engineering productivity, and enterprise innovation.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate organizational objectives into practical technical strategies and architecture roadmaps.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in enterprise software development, software architecture, cloud-native platforms, or a closely related discipline.

• Strong experience designing scalable and secure enterprise software architectures and modernization strategies.

• Advanced proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Python, REST APIs, microservices, and API integration.

• Hands-on expertise with AWS, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, Docker, Linux, and serverless architectures.

• Strong understanding of identity and access management, including Okta, Keycloak, OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, and Zero Trust principles.

• Demonstrated experience with Generative AI, AI agents, prompt engineering, AI-assisted engineering, and specification-driven development.

• Experience using or evaluating tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot within software engineering workflows.

• Strong architectural understanding of enterprise integration, distributed systems, APIs, cloud platforms, and modern application development.

• Excellent technical leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence engineering teams and explain complex architectural decisions to diverse stakeholders.

• Ability to establish engineering standards, mentor technical teams, and provide strategic direction while remaining comfortable with hands-on technical work.

• Familiarity with modern data engineering practices, including SQL, data modeling, data analytics, AI/ML, and scalable data processing, is preferred.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of making sound architecture decisions in complex environments.

• Ability to balance security, scalability, reliability, performance, cost, and developer experience when evaluating technical solutions.

• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to successfully obtain a Public Trust clearance for the role.

• Salary range: $148,750–$201,250, with final compensation determined based on experience, geographic location, and applicable contractual requirements.

• Full-time, 40-hour work week.
