Job Title: Systems Engineering Manager - Military GPS & Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT)

Job Description:

Perform Systems Engineering responsibilities with emphasis on system requirements development, decomposition, allocation, and verification planning, along with integration and test execution. This position is part of the Systems Engineering Organization within Navigation Solutions (NS) at L3Harris in Yorba Linda, CA. The role requires experience in translating customer and stakeholder needs into well‑defined system-level requirements, managing traceability (e.g., in DOORS), defining interfaces and architecture, and supporting system integration and verification activities. The engineer will participate in requirements analysis, architecture development, integration planning, test procedure development, data analysis, and documentation of verification results. Navigation Solutions products deliver advanced military GPS and other Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) capabilities for weapons, ground, airborne, maritime, and space environments.

Essential Functions:

  • Contributes to publishing change notices to system specification and update of requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions, and trace system and Element level requirements.
  • Document analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create and present briefings within the team and external stakeholders.
  • Duties will include leading system engineering in the development of requirements, model, and tracking status of verification.
  • Perform detailed tracking of changes to system requirements and verification
  • Perform hands-on system integration, test deployment, and execution roles.
  • Proficient in the operation and understanding of wireless/RF test equipment, such as signal analyzers, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Develop test automation, including equipment drivers, debug tools, automation scripts, database interfaces, and reporting tools.
  • Must be eligible to able to obtain a US security clearance

Qualifications:

  • Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline with minimum 9 years or a Graduate degree with a minimum of 7 years prior relevant experience; or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong prior experience with the use of DOORS.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong hardware and software technical background in architecture development, functional decomposition, requirements development and allocation, and interface definition with system-modelling tools.
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team with limited direction.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communications skills necessary to work effectively in a small technical team environment, and to accurately represent requirement/test perspectives to system architects, software designers, other test and test support personnel, and the Government customer.
  • An understanding of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
  • V&V planning and execution experience.
  • Regularly contributes to overall system integration and automation process improvement.
  • Experience with hardware implementation or embedded software implementation.
  • Flexible work schedule but 4/10 is preferred

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $127,500 - $236,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
