This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a GCP Data Engineer Lead based in India.

In this leadership role, you will design scalable data architectures, guide the development of robust ETL/ELT pipelines, and champion engineering best practices across projects. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-performance data solutions while mentoring a team of engineers and driving technical excellence. Accountabilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of data engineers, fostering technical excellence and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Google Cloud Platform services.
  • Build and maintain cloud-based data lakes and data warehouses with BigQuery to support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Develop both batch and real-time data processing solutions using modern cloud-native technologies.
  • Collaborate with architects, business stakeholders, analysts, and development teams to translate business requirements into effective data solutions.
  • Conduct code reviews, promote engineering best practices, and maintain high standards for code quality and performance.
  • Support CI/CD implementation, DevOps initiatives, and infrastructure automation practices.
  • Contribute to technical planning, solution architecture, project estimation, and risk management activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
  • 7–8 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or large-scale software development.
  • Strong expertise with Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Dataflow, Cloud Storage (GCS), Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub.
  • Solid SQL skills and extensive experience designing and optimizing data warehouses and data models.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks, workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, and cloud-native data processing solutions.
  • Familiarity with Looker or similar BI and reporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and DevOps best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and manage project timelines and technical risks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
