JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Import Project Manager

Department/s:

310 – Purchasing

Reports to:

Director of Logistics

Position Overview: Oversees our daily inbound inventory shipments.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support all aspects of import freight movements and costing with focus on our BCO and FRA agreements. Approximately 3,000 ocean containers annually.
  • Using internal systems evaluate and route daily container bookings for most efficient POD, transit times and cost.
  • Communicate with freight forwards to consolidate small shipments into full container loads.
  • Expedite and move shipments to AIR when needed or request by purchasing.
  • Track and trouble shoot high priority shipments.
  • Identify logistics bottlenecks and propose cost-effective solutions to improve efficiency
  • Prepare/proofread international customs documentation
  • Support cargo for Hit branches outside of FL as assigned by the Logistics Director
  • Create a process for direct ocean container bookings.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous experience as a transportation analyst or logistics, freight or traffic coordinator or specialist
  • International and customs logistics experience
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Project management skills
  • Advanced report writing skills
  • Proficiency to communicate well with all different levels, internally and externally, including verbal and electronic
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and very savvy using Excel
  • Strong attention to detail including financial calculations
  • Self-motivated and action-oriented
  • Possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter
  • Efficient with prioritizing and multi-tasking, including being productive while handling re-directions and interruptions based upon business needs
  • Must be flexible and accommodating to handle a variety of expectations
  • Ability to work in teams as well as possess self-accountability
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency, follow-through, and diligence, including meeting deadlines and have the ability to remain organized with and keep track of multiple sources of information and data.
