Schedule:  Sun, Mon, Wed and Thurs

Hours: Typical hours are 5am – until complete. 

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months, a point level </= 6 attendance points and 6 months in current area unless the TM is promoting, then less than 6 months in current area is allowable.

Starting wage - $18.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

Position Summary: 

  • This position is responsible for testing and inspecting quality and practices at all stages of chick processing and complies and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain reliability of hatchery outgoing quality level to assure chick quality standards are being met. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Weigh and check chick quality for each flock every hour (25%)
  • Count by‐product, 2 boxes per flock.  (15%)
  • Check robots and injects for bad birds. (15%)
  • Assist in vaccine mixing/ training  and check inventory of vaccines weekly.  (15%)
  • Enter hatch summary in the computer on a weekly basis along with compiling and evaluating statically data (20%)
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.  Such as:  Packs eggs when needed, cleans the vaccine lab, Operate a high pressure and regular water hose, maintains a clean and organized work area. (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements:

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.  Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company.  No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing.  Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques.  Must regularly lift and stack chick boxes (wheeled dolly) weighing up to 12 pounds and will occasionally be required to push or pull stacks of boxes up to 125 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift (concrete floor); sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Tools and Equipment:
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required:  Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required.  Ear plugs will be used as required.   NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed. 
  • Chemicals Commonly Used:  Disinfectants such as Synergize, Lysol, bleach, etc.
  • Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.
  • Safety: TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.  TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
