Full description

Based in the heart of Leamington Spa, Pixel Toys have spent over a decade pushing the capabilities of mobile gaming. We have developed multiple award-winning titles, including: Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War; and we’re now excited to be exclusively working on a new game, unlike ANYTHING we’ve done previously!

As a forward thinking and innovative studio we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers.

We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals, who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey!

The Role:

As an Experienced QA Technician at Pixel Toys, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, stability, and playability of our games through thorough testing, detailed defect analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. Working closely alongside our development teams, you will execute functional, regression, exploratory, and feature-focused testing across various areas of our projects. You will serve as a dedicated advocate for the player experience, helping to ensure that every feature, mechanic, and content update runs smoothly before reaching our community.

Your day-to-day will involve identifying, reproducing, and documenting issues with thorough detail, conducting root cause analysis on complex bugs to provide clear, actionable reporting for our developers. You will partner directly with Engineers, Designers, and Producers to prioritise defects, verify fixes, and ensure issues are fully resolved. Beyond daily testing, you will support release readiness activities by validating build stability, identifying potential risks for upcoming milestones, and contributing to test planning and coverage reviews across the development lifecycle.

In addition to your technical testing, you will act as a supportive mentor within the QA department. You will guide and assist less experienced team members, sharing knowledge, reviewing test cases, and helping them grow their testing skills in a collaborative environment. With a focus on continuous improvement, you will actively help refine QA workflows, documentation, and testing methodologies, helping to support quality standards across the entire studio.

About you:

You will join us with experience as a QA Technician or in a similar quality assurance role, ideally within the games industry.

We would love to see experience across some of the following areas:

Platform Testing: Practical experience testing games across multiple platforms, particularly Android and iOS mobile devices.

Development Lifecycles: A working knowledge of game development lifecycles, Agile methodologies, and live-service development environments.

Defect Investigation: Effective troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues, identify root causes, and highlight potential quality risks.

Test Methodologies: A practical grasp of test planning, test case design, and test execution techniques across different phases of production.

QA Tools: Experience using defect-tracking and test management platforms, such as Jira, to document, manage, and track issues efficiently.
