About the Opportunity:
What You’ll Get to Do
- Provide administration and support for mission-critical and pre-production database environments. - Design and implement Azure cloud databases, high-availability solutions, replication, encryption, and disaster recovery solutions. - Migrate on-premises databases to Azure Cloud using SQL on VM, SQL Managed Instance, and Azure SQL Database. - Perform and manage daily database maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning tasks. - Provide technical leadership by example, developing innovation, strategies, processes, and best practices. - Manage database disaster recovery across all database environments, including SQL backup policies. - Identify and document performance and scaling improvements for development teams. - Assist in the design and implementation of security, auditing, and integrity controls. - Benchmark, analyze, report on, and recommend improvements for the SQL transactional replication infrastructure. - Provide guidance to junior-level DBAs. - Provide 24x7 on-call administration and support.
Skills and Experience We Value
- 5+ years of recent experience maintaining and administering mission-critical database environments. - Experience with large enterprise production environments with high transaction volume. - Experience with SQL Server 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2025. - Experience with cloud database solutions, including SQL on VM, SQL Managed Instance, and Azure SQL Database. - Experience with NoSQL database technologies such as MongoDB and Cosmos DB. - Experience with data streaming and caching technologies such as Kafka and Redis. - Experience with PowerShell and Azure CLI. - Ability to automate processes to improve efficiency. - Experience with database triaging, tuning, and monitoring. - Knowledge of database design and the application development lifecycle. - Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and initiative. - Excellent planning, time management, and documentation skills. - Advanced skills in T-SQL, SQL Profiler, and PowerShell. - Experience with SQL monitoring tools such as SQL Sentry and DBA Dash. - Experience managing Human Capital Management SaaS database systems. - Ability to adapt easily to changing priorities. - Effective communication skills with distributed team members. - Ability to work well both independently and within a team. - Ability to research database issues and products and present ideas in business-appropriate and user-friendly language.
