About the Role

Join Origin's Cyber Security team and play a hands-on role in strengthening the security of our applications and products.

Reporting to the Head of Application & Product Security, you'll work closely with software engineers to identify, investigate and remediate security vulnerabilities while helping embed security practices into everyday development. You'll leverage modern application security tools, support developer education and contribute to building secure software across Origin's technology landscape.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Implement and manage application security tooling across CI/CD pipelines, including SAST, SCA, DAST, secret scanning and container security.
  • Investigate, triage and support the remediation of vulnerabilities, partnering with development teams to improve application security.
  • Participate in security testing activities including code reviews, penetration testing and bug bounty programs.
  • Improve secure development practices by maintaining security documentation, supporting developer training and promoting secure coding standards.
  • Contribute to incident response, security tool optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives across the application security function.

About You

You're passionate about application security and enjoy working collaboratively with developers to solve complex security challenges.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in software development, security engineering or a related technical role, with a solid understanding of secure coding principles and the OWASP Top 10.
  • Hands-on experience with application security tools such as SAST, SCA, DAST or similar, along with familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, Go or similar, with the ability to understand and review application code.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, with security certifications or a genuine commitment to developing your application security expertise.
