Airbus Defence & Space arbeitet an einem neuen satellitenbasierten Kommunikationssystem. Die Satellitenkonstellation bietet dem Kunden Konnektivität und ermöglicht die Verbindung von Elementen über Satelliten-HF- (Hochfrequenz) und optische Verbindungen.

Das System besteht aus dem Weltraumsegment und dem Bodensegment. Das Bodensegment setzt sich aus einer Reihe von Werkzeugen zusammen, die es dem Kunden ermöglichen, die End-to-End-Konnektivität des Systems aktiv zu verwalten. Dies umfasst die Konfigurationseinstellungen für Nutzlast- und Bodenkanäle, um die erforderliche Abdeckung und Leistung zu erreichen.

Die Position

Als System Engineer für SATCOM-Netzwerke verstärkst du unser SATCOM-Expertenteam und stellst eine qualitäts-, kosten- und termingerechte Bereitstellung unserer Lösungen sicher.

Dein Aufgabenbereich deckt den gesamten System- und Software-Entwicklungslebenszyklus ab – von der Anforderungsdefinition und dem Systemdesign bis hin zur finalen Systemabnahme. Alle Aktivitäten führst du unter Anwendung der MBSE-Methodik (Model-Based Systems Engineering) und in enger Zusammenarbeit mit den Systemingenieuren, dem Software-Architekten, den Software-Entwicklern sowie den Unterauftragnehmern durch.

Dein Arbeitsort ist Ottobrunn, und du berichtest direkt an den Projektleiter (Project Lead Engineer).

Deine Aufgaben

• Definition der Systemarchitektur auf Basis eines MBSE-Frameworks mit besonderem Fokus auf den Workflow des Netzwerkmanagements.

• Definition und Analyse von Kundenanforderungen sowie Mitwirkung an der Definition adäquater System- und Softwareanforderungen unter Sicherstellung der Robustheit und Kompatibilität mit bereits bestehenden Softwaremodulen.

• Unterstützung bei der Koordination von Unterauftragnehmern, insbesondere in der Phase des Systemdesigns.

• Durchführung von Analysen zu System-Abweichungen (Non-Conformances), Unstimmigkeiten (Discrepancies) und Ausnahmegenehmigungen (Waivers).

• Analyse von Daten aus Validierungstests, um festzustellen, ob Systeme und Prozesse die erforderlichen Kriterien und Spezifikationen erfüllen.

Deine Fähigkeiten und Qualifikationen

• Master-Abschluss in Informatik, Elektronik, Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik oder einem verwandten Ingenieurstudiengang.

• Nachgewiesene Erfahrung im Bereich Bodensegment-Systeme und Satellitenkommunikation, vorzugsweise unter Nutzung des MBSE-Frameworks.

• Fundierte Erfahrung in der funktionellen Logik und den operationalen Anforderungen von SATCOM zur Steuerung komplexer, dynamischer LEO- und GEO-Missionen.

• Nachgewiesene Fähigkeit, übergeordnete SATCOM-Missionsziele in technische Spezifikationen für die automatisierte Netzwerkkonfiguration und das Ressourcenmanagement zu übersetzen.

• Erfahrung mit der MBSE-Methodik unter Anwendung von Missions-, operationalen, funktionalen, logischen und technischen Systemanalysen und -designs.

• Erfahrung in der Architektur von End-to-End-System-Workflows, die die Lücke zwischen bodengebundener Steuerung und entfernten Netzwerkknoten schließen.

• Kenntnisse in Software-Design- und Architekturprinzipien sowie Erfahrung in der Softwareentwicklung sind von Vorteil.

• Erfahrung mit den Prozessen ECSS-80C und ECSS-40C ist von Vorteil.

• Kenntnisse des AGILE-Entwicklungslebenszyklus (Kanban, SCRUM) sind von Vorteil.

• Fähigkeit, in einer multinationalen Teamorganisation zu arbeiten und effizient zu kommunizieren.

• Sprachkenntnisse: Fließend Englisch, Deutschkenntnisse sind von Vorteil.

Program Description

Airbus Defence & Space is working on a new satellite based communication system. The constellation of satellites will offer connectivity to the customer, allowing connecting elements through satellite RF and optical links. 

The system consists of the space segment and the ground segment. The Ground Segment will be composed of a set of Tools which will allow the customer to actively manage the System End-to-end connectivity, including payload and ground channels connectivity settings in order to reach the needed coverage and performances.

Task Description

As a SATCOM Network System Engineer, you will join our team of SATCOM System Engineers, contributing to an on-quality, on-cost and on-time delivery of the solution.

Your range of tasks will cover the entire System / Software Development lifecycle, from Requirements definition and System Design up final System Acceptance. All activities will be conducted by following MBSE methodology and will be performed in close cooperation with the System Engineers, the SW Architect, the SW developers and the sub-contractors. 

The holder of this position will be located at Ottobrunn and reports to the Project Lead Engineer.

Your tasks

• Define System Architecture based on a MBSE framework, with particular focus on the Network Management workflow.

• Define and analyse customer requirements and contribute to the definition of the adequate System and Software Requirements, ensuring robustness and compatibility with the already existing software modules.

• Support the coordination of the subcontractors, with particular focus on the System Design phase.

• Conduct analysis on System non-conformances, discrepancies and waivers 

• Analyse data from validation tests to determine whether systems and processes meet required criteria and specifications

Your qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Aerospace or other related Engineering

• Proven experience in ground segment systems and satellite communication, possibly making use of the MBSE framework.

• Deep Experience in SATCOM functional logic and operational requirements for managing complex, dynamic LEO and GEO missions.

• Proficiency in translating high-level SATCOM mission objectives into technical specifications for automated network configuration and resource management.

• Experience with MBSE Methodology, making use of Mission, Operational, Functional, Logical and Technical System Analysis and Design

• Experience in architecting end-to-end system workflows that bridge the gap between ground-based control and remote network nodes.

• Knowledge of Software Design and Architecture principles, as well as experience with Software Development are a plus

• Experience with ECSS-80C and ECSS-40C process is a plus

• Knowledge of AGILE Development Lifecycle (Kanban, SCRUM) is a plus

• Ability to operate and efficiently communicate in a multi-national team organisation

• Language skills: English fluent, German language skills are advantageous
