This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cybersecurity Threat Analyst - English based in India.
As a Cybersecurity Threat Analyst, you will use expert human judgment to evaluate technical security data and identify potential cybersecurity threats. You will analyze security logs, alerts, events, and potentially malicious code to recognize suspicious activity and relevant threat patterns. Your assessments will help produce high-quality, human-verified data used to train and evaluate automated security systems. The role combines cybersecurity expertise, analytical thinking, and careful decision-making across complex or ambiguous cases. You will classify and annotate security information while applying detailed project guidelines consistently. This freelance opportunity offers the potential to transition into a full-time role and provides meaningful exposure to AI-driven security evaluation.

Accountabilities:
• Review and evaluate security logs, alerts, events, and other cybersecurity-related data according to established project guidelines.
• Analyze technical security information to identify potential threats, suspicious activity, attack techniques, and relevant patterns.
• Review potentially malicious code and identify relevant security characteristics when required.
• Apply cybersecurity expertise and sound human judgment when assessing complex or ambiguous security information.
• Classify, label, and annotate security-related data accurately and consistently.
• Distinguish between normal, suspicious, and potentially malicious activity using available evidence and defined evaluation criteria.
• Identify threat patterns, attack techniques, and indicators that may require further investigation or review.
• Provide human-verified assessments that support the development and improvement of automated security systems.
• Document decisions and supporting reasoning clearly whenever required.
• Flag unclear, incomplete, or particularly complex cases through the appropriate project processes.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, quality, and attention to detail across assigned tasks.
Requirements:
• Educational background or equivalent professional experience in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Practical experience in cybersecurity analysis, threat analysis, security operations, incident response, malware analysis, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of common cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, attack techniques, and fundamental security concepts.
• Experience reviewing or analyzing security logs, alerts, events, or other technical security data.
• Ability to recognize suspicious activity, potential threats, and meaningful security patterns.
• Familiarity with malicious code, malware, or suspicious system behavior is preferred.
• Understanding of threat detection concepts and common security controls is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to make consistent, evidence-based decisions using technical information and established guidelines.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy when reviewing large volumes of data.
• Ability to understand and consistently apply detailed project instructions.
• Strong written English comprehension and documentation skills.
• Experience with security data analysis, AI evaluation, data annotation, or structured technical-data review is preferred.
