Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Big Data Engineer based in United States.

The Big Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain the core data infrastructure that powers analytics and business decision-making. This role combines hands-on data engineering with close collaboration across product, engineering, finance, and business teams. A major focus will be developing reliable financial data solutions, supporting an existing enterprise resource planning environment, and contributing to a future migration to Workday. You will work with modern cloud technologies to create scalable pipelines, curated data models, and secure data platforms. The role emphasizes reusable code, strong governance, automated quality controls, and CI/CD practices. It is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a data-driven environment while helping transform complex operational and financial information into trusted, business-ready insights.

\n

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL and ELT pipelines using Snowflake and AWS as core components of the data platform.
  • Build modular and scalable data models with dbt Core, applying Medallion architecture principles across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers to transform raw data into curated business-ready data marts.
  • Partner with finance, product, engineering, and business stakeholders to understand source systems, downstream requirements, and complex financial workflows, translating them into reliable and scalable data solutions.
  • Develop reusable, efficient, and maintainable data engineering solutions using advanced SQL and Python for data processing and transformation.
  • Establish and enforce data governance and security practices, including role-based access control across pipelines to protect sensitive financial information and support compliance requirements.
  • Implement automated data quality testing, observability, and comprehensive documentation to improve reliability and enable safe, trusted data democratization.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud and data platform costs by analyzing resource utilization, improving query performance, and identifying opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Support financial data integrations across enterprise systems, including current ERP data flows and the planned transition to Workday.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent education, combined with 3–5 years of relevant industry experience in data engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Extensive experience with Snowflake and proven expertise designing scalable data solutions within AWS environments.
  • Strong expertise in dbt Core, Medallion architecture, dimensional modeling, and complex data transformation techniques.
  • Experience with finance data modeling and a strong understanding of enterprise ERP systems, with Oracle EBS and/or Workday experience highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, security protocols, and RBAC, particularly when working with sensitive enterprise or financial data.
  • Advanced SQL skills and strong Python proficiency for querying, transformation, processing, and automation.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git and with implementing CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and automated deployments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Benefits:

  • National base salary range of $120,000–$150,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for bonus and incentive programs.
  • Healthcare, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and mental health benefits for employees and their families.
  • 401(k) plan with company match and tuition assistance.
  • Flexible time off, paid sick leave, and ten paid holidays annually.
  • Parental planning benefits to support employees through important family milestones.
  • Remote work opportunity for eligible employees located in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia.
  • Opportunity to work with modern data technologies including Snowflake, AWS, dbt, Python, SQL, and enterprise financial systems while contributing to large-scale data transformation initiatives.
  • Initial onboarding may require travel to Medford, Massachusetts, with travel arrangements and expenses handled by the employer.
