Full description

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team on a PRIME contract, providing the opportunity to directly contribute to the design and development of mission-critical enterprise capabilities.

In this role, you will work with a modern software development stack and geospatial technologies to build scalable solutions for geospatial analysis, data processing, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), and visualization. You will design, develop, and enhance Java-based microservices and APIs that process complex geospatial data and integrate with relational and NoSQL data stores.

As part of our engineering team, you will help modernize and expand enterprise geospatial capabilities using cloud-native architectures, containerized microservices, modern DevSecOps practices, and automated CI/CD pipelines. This is an opportunity to tackle technically challenging problems where your software directly supports mission users and enables faster, more informed decision-making.

The position also offers a flexible work schedule and telework opportunities, providing greater flexibility while maintaining close collaboration with a highly skilled technical team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance Java microservices with a strong emphasis on geospatial functionality
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into robust and scalable software solutions
  • Leading the technical design and implementation of geospatial features, ensuring alignment with overall architecture and mission objectives
  • Working closely with product managers and other stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical expertise during the planning and execution of projects
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor junior team members to ensure high-quality code and adherence to best practices

Required Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Fourteen (14) years' experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Four (4) years of additional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
  • In-depth knowledge of Java and associated frameworks (Spring Boot, Hibernate, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud-based development and deployment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information System) principles and applications

The estimated salary range for this position is between $190,000.00 and $250,000.00 (annualized USD). This range reflects the typical pay for the role and is one part of the company's comprehensive compensation package. Actual salaries are influenced by several factors, such as location, the individual’s education, skills, experience, and competencies, as well as contract affordability and organizational needs.
