Are you an experienced MySQL professional who enjoys solving complex database challenges? Are you skilled at improving performance, protecting critical data, and keeping database environments running reliably?

LCS is seeking a MySQL Database Administrator to develop, maintain, and optimize the databases that support our business-critical software. In this role, you will manage database architecture, configure database hosts, maintain access privileges, tune queries, and help ensure the security, availability, and reliable operation of our database servers. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a collaborative technology environment while working with large-scale systems and modern database tools.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform day-to-day database administration, including designing, implementing, configuring, and maintaining MySQL databases.
  • Install, maintain, and configure MySQL database architecture and related systems.
  • Monitor database performance, security, integrity, and availability.
  • Manage database access and privileges to help ensure company information is stored securely.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain database backup and recovery processes.
  • Monitor server resource usage and troubleshoot performance or capacity concerns.
  • Analyze and optimize queries, indexes, configurations, and database processes.
  • Test new versions and features of MySQL and plan and execute database upgrades and migrations.
  • Configure and maintain database replication.
  • Automate routine database administration and maintenance tasks.
  • Identify current and future database resource and capacity requirements.
  • Incorporate the long-term needs of database operations and administration into the organization’s overall systems planning.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot database-related issues and support the reliable performance of LCS applications.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong proficiency in MySQL database administration and management.
  • Strong Linux knowledge and experience.
  • Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing database performance.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
  • Understanding of database security, backup, recovery, and availability practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of MySQL features, architecture, and administration best practices.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining MySQL replication.
  • Experience using Percona products and tools.
  • Experience planning database capacity and resource requirements based on high-level specifications.
  • Experience with Ansible or other configuration-management tools.
  • Experience scripting in Python.
  • Experience automating routine database administration tasks.
  • Experience planning and completing MySQL upgrades or migrations.
