Job Description:

Details of the Division and Team:

The successful candidate is expected to own and present the financial, regulatory and management reporting for Finance - providing accurate and timely financial information and high-quality advice and analysis to businesses and infrastructure functions. (S)he is also expected to measure and analyze performance and identify areas to drive innovative change and to liaise effectively with all internal and external stakeholders in and beyond Sri Lanka.

The successful candidate is also in charge of controlling costs, limiting risks and to strengthen the Bank’s decision-making process.

You can expect:

  • Provident Fund:  the Bank will contribute 25% towards the EPF. These rates are subject to change in accordance with the amendments made to the EPF Trust duly approved by the statutory authority.  
  • Employees Trust Fund: the Bank will contribute 3% of the basic salary towards the Employees Trust Fund (E.T.F.).  This rate is subject to change in accordance with the statutory limits as declared by the Government of Sri Lanka.

Your key responsibilities:

  • All payment related coordination, working account clearing and internal account reconciliation from finance end.
  • Timely completion of accurate financial, management and regulatory reporting, including filing of statutory returns.
  • Compliance with statutory directives issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and other Regulators on finance matters.
  • Provide insightful and timely responses to ad-hoc requests and surveys sent by the Regulator.
  • Analyze and review of business performance.
  • Tax administration and compliance - direct and indirect taxes as well as transfer pricing arrangements.
  • Manage and owning regional processes on agreed KPIs.
  • Design, implement and run an effective internal control environment over financial reporting and finance processes.
  • Drive sustainable changes in the local finance processes and systems including participation in franchise-driven / regional / global change initiatives.
  • Liaise with stakeholders as well as external parties such as auditors / consultants, local regulatory bodies and the Inland Revenue Department, providing insights on financial information and underlying business / economic developments and on changes in accounting and taxation.
  • Branch budget for ICAAP.
  • Other Branch level MIS and Analysis.
  • Reports to: Head of Finance, Sri Lanka

Your skills and experience:

Experience and exposure:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Finance

Educational Qualifications

  • A member or a Passed finalist of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka
  • ACCA qualification
  • An accounting degree from a recognized university and/or equivalent qualification.
  • An MBA will be an added advantage

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • In-depth knowledge of Sri Lankan accounting, reporting, and taxation rules and regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge of banking, banking and investment products and processes gained through hands-on experience in the Banking and Financial Service Industry.
  • Able to handle stressful situations with internal clients and regulators whilst maintaining a professional approach to problem solving.
  • Capable of building up good connections with local legal, regulatory and public authorities.
  • Capable of adopting a hands-on and proactive approach.
  • Possesses and demonstrates integrity and discretion.
  • Conversant with MS Office applications.
  • Audit experience in banking sector will be an added advantage.
  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
