Job Requirements POSITION SUMMARY 

The Associate Project Manager supports the successful delivery of enterprise initiatives by managing smaller projects or discrete workstreams within larger programs across the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN). The Associate Project Manager applies foundational project management practices to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage timelines, and ensure alignment with the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) governance standards. 

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Leads low-to-moderate complexity projects or workstreams under the direction of more senior EPMO Associates, ensuring coordination across teams and adherence to project goals; partners with executive sponsors and operational leaders to define project objectives and expected outcomes 
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive project plans, including schedules, task tracking mechanisms, and visual tools such as Gantt charts; utilizes project management software to monitor progress and adjust timelines as needed. 
  • Gathers, organizes, and documents information related to project scope, budget, dependencies, and assumptions, supporting EPMO projects by maintaining clarity on project parameters and constraints.  
  • Lead project meetings by preparing agendas, recording action items, distributing meeting notes, and following up with team members to maintain alignment and accountability; prioritizes tasks, coordinates team activities, and tracks time and resource allocation to ensure timely completion of deliverables and efficient use of resources. 
  • Identifies, documents, and escalates project risks and issues to appropriate stakeholders, proactively supporting timely resolution and mitigation through regular risk reviews and status reporting. 
  • Ensures projects comply with EPMO methodology and documentation standards, following established templates, maintaining audit-ready files, and updating project records throughout the project lifecycle; for example, using EPMO-approved checklists and document repositories.  
  • Monitors and tracks project budgets, adjust expenditures as necessary, operating within approved financial parameters to support fiscal responsibility.  
  • Classifies, documents, and baselines change requests related to project scope, schedule, or resources, ensuring proper evaluation and approval in accordance with EPMO change control processes.  
  • Prepares and communicates project or initiative status and operational issues clearly and effectively to sponsors, team members, and stakeholders using appropriate channels such as status reports, dashboards, and meetings; assisting with communication to sponsors, team members, and stakeholders to ensure project teams remain informed and engaged.  
  • Collaborates with organizational change management resources to support adoption and sustainment. 
  • Serves as a mentor to more junior EPMO Associates and contributes to EPMO methodology improvement and governance. 

Work Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or a relevant field. 
  • Work Experience: One (1) year professional work experience. 
  • Licensure: None 
  • Certification: Any one of the following within one (1) year of start date and maintained: 
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification OR 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification OR 
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification OR 
  • Project Management Institute Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification OR 
  • Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification. 
  • Work Experience In Lieu of Education:  
  • Associate’s degree and an additional two (2) years’ professional work experience OR 
  • High School Diploma and an additional four (4) years’ professional work experience. 
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: 
  • Ability to support multiple and often competing priorities. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to assist with meeting coordination. 
  • Ability to apply basic problem-solving approaches to routine project issues. 
  • Foundational analytical skills. 
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for working with project teams and stakeholders. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Work Experience: Experience in a healthcare delivery environment. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.  
  • Long periods of computer time or at workstation. 
  • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance. 
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.  
  • Communicating with others to exchange information. 
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. 
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined. 
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
