Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer 3 with strong software development expertise to join our API Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and deliver scalable, cloud-native APIs and services while driving engineering excellence and best practices across the team. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Architecture, Quality Engineering, and cross-functional engineering teams to shape technical direction and deliver secure, reliable, and customer-centric solutions.

Job Requirements

  • 4–7 years of relevant software development experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Node.js and Python, with experience delivering maintainable production-quality software.
  • Strong experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs and GraphQL APIs in production environments.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing cloud-native applications using AWS services.
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, design patterns, scalability, performance optimisation, reliability, and testing practices.
  • Experience owning technical solutions and delivering features with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Git-based version control, Bitbucket, Jira, CI/CD practices, and Agile development.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decisions through collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of medium to large features, from requirements analysis and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and Python.
  • Design and enhance RESTful APIs and GraphQL APIs for customer-facing and internal applications.
  • Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions for API platform capabilities.
  • Drive API design standards, engineering best practices, code quality, reliability, performance, and security.
  • Build, deploy, and operate cloud-native applications and services using AWS technologies.
  • Troubleshoot complex production and customer-reported issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, QA, UX, and engineering teams to define solutions and execution strategies.
  • Identify technical debt and drive modernisation, automation, and developer-productivity improvements.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, operational readiness, observability, and production support for critical services.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs, services, architecture, and key design decisions.
  • Support Agile delivery using Jira and Git-based source code management using Bitbucket.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
