Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be a successful Software Engineer-Java you should have experience with:

  • Strong hands-on experience in Core Java (Java 11+/17+), Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience designing and developing Microservices-based applications using Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, and Spring Data.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, Web Services, and service-oriented architecture principles.
  • Good knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), design patterns, data structures, and software design principles.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Proficiency with source control and CI/CD tools such as Git, GitLab, Jenkins, and Bitbucket.
  • Experience building scalable, secure, and high-performing enterprise applications.
  • Good understanding of application performance tuning, debugging, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within globally distributed teams and collaborate with business and technology stakeholders.

Additional relevant skills given below are highly valued:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or BCP.
  • Hands-on experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, MQ, or event-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
  • Experience with database schema management tools such as Liquibase.
  • Familiarity with caching technologies such as Redis or Coherence.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD automation.
  • Exposure to workflow engines and business process automation solutions.
  • Experience in Banking, Wealth Management, Financial Services, AML, KYC, or Client Lifecycle Management domains.
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Grafana.
  • Passion for continuous learning and adoption of modern engineering practices.
