Full description

Your area of work:

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the CBL Connectivity & Data development team (HUB) to work on a JMS middleware application. The application is based on Java (JDK21+) and C++, in-house developed, and deployed partially as a standalone Java application and partially on the OpenShift platform. For persistence, Oracle RDBMS, IBM MQ, and Apache Kafka are used. The application consists of separate micro-services which communicate over JMS with each other as well as with the rest of the world. We use GitHub, JIRA, Gradle, Jenkins, Sonar, JUnit, HPFortify, and — last but not least — AI tools including the most advanced models from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google.

We're looking for someone who treats software delivery as more than writing code — analyzing problems deeply, designing secure solutions, and owning outcomes through to a stable production result.

Your responsibilities:

  • Work on a highly critical part of connectivity infrastructure
  • Analyze and clarify business requirements, identifying gaps, risks, and edge cases
  • Design interfaces and solutions for internal and external systems, weighing trade-offs and long-term impact
  • Communicate scope, timeline, and progress proactively; present and refine solution proposals with the team
  • Apply secure-by-design principles, identifying and treating security risks throughout the lifecycle
  • Own your work end-to-end — analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support (in simulation and production)
  • Learn and follow the software delivery process at DBG

Your profile:

  • University degree in information technology, engineering, or similar (CTU, UK MFF)
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering
  • Experience with Java or C++
  • Experience with messaging architecture (event streaming, pub-sub, SOA, message-driven middleware) and message formats (XML, JSON, CSV, PDF, ...)
  • Solid foundation in software design: object-oriented design, architecture and interface design, SQL
  • Security-conscious: aware of application security principles and their impact on design (ISO 27001 a plus)
  • Strong analytical skills: able to reason about complex systems and identify root causes
  • Self-organizing, autonomous, and detail-oriented, with proactive communication and strong negotiation skills

Would be an advantage:

  • Experience with Linux
  • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Cloud Services (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • SWIFTNet
  • Previous experience in the financial sector
  • Secure coding practices, threat modeling, or security tooling (e.g. static/dynamic analysis, Sonarqube, HPFortify, ISO27001)

You can look forward to our benefit package:

  • Hybrid Work and Flexible working hours
  • Work from abroad - 12 days of remote work from EU countries per year
  • Group Share Plan - discount on company shares
  • Pension fund contribution - 3% of your gross salary (5% after 5 years with us)
  • Health & Wellbeing - fully covered Multisport card, life & accident insurance, sick days and 100% salary contribution during sick leave (up to 56 days)
  • 25 vacation days
  • Mobility - fully covered public transport in Prague & free parking
  • Flexible Benefit Account (Pluxee) - 1200 per month
  • Free Access to E-Learning Platforms, Internal Development Programs, Mentoring & Learning Budget
