Position Title: UX Researcher Location: Remote (In the U.S)

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a UX Researcher to join our team supporting VA.gov Platform. In this role you will plan, conduct, and synthesize research to understand how engineering and product teams use VA.gov Platform products and services. This role helps Platform understand the needs, behaviors, pain points, and satisfaction of its users so that product strategy, roadmaps, and investment decisions are grounded in evidence.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about working closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, Analytics, Platform Support, and government stakeholders. The researcher combines qualitative research, survey data, product analytics, support data, and other signals to identify opportunities and recommend priorities. In the role you will own the Platform's quarterly user satisfaction survey and tracks changes in user sentiment and experience over time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and conduct research to understand how teams building product on VA.gov and other internal users interact with VA.gov Platform products, services, tools, and processes
  • Conduct user interviews, usability studies, contextual inquiry, workflow analysis, and other qualitative research methods
  • Study the end-to-end developer experience, including how teams discover, adopt, use, troubleshoot, and receive support for Platform capabilities
  • Identify unmet needs, recurring pain points, barriers to adoption, and opportunities to improve Platform products and services
  • Evaluate existing Platform capabilities as well as proposed improvements and new products
  • Develop research plans, discussion guides, research questions, recruitment criteria, and study materials
  • Synthesize research findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations
  • Own the design, administration, analysis, and reporting of the VA.gov Platform quarterly user satisfaction survey
  • Maintain a consistent measurement framework that enables Platform to track satisfaction and sentiment over time
  • Evaluate satisfaction across Platform products, services, and key aspects of the user experience
  • Analyze survey results by relevant user groups, products, services, or experience areas to identify meaningful trends

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ years’ experience as a UX Researcher
  • Experience conducting user experience research for digital products, software platforms, developer tools, or enterprise technology
  • Strong experience with qualitative research methods including interviews, usability testing, contextual inquiry, and thematic analysis
  • Experience designing, administering, and analyzing user satisfaction surveys
  • Experience synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data into actionable product recommendations
  • Ability to identify patterns and insights across large amounts of user feedback
  • Experience translating research findings into recommendations that inform product strategy and prioritization
  • Strong understanding of human-centered design and user-centered product development
  • Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, and other technical stakeholders
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate research findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing multiple research efforts and stakeholder needs simultaneously

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard Business hours are Monday through Friday. Occasional extended or weekend hours may be required based on operational needs. Must have reliable internet service that allows for effective telecommuting.

PAY RANGE

The base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $140,000 annually, depending on geographic work location, relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, security clearance, and contract requirements. Geographic salary ranges are determined in accordance with the company's compensation practices and represent a good-faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting.
