Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer / Editor to join our construction company. This role is responsible for writing, editing, proofreading, formatting, and organizing a wide range of technical and business documents related to construction operations, project delivery, safety, engineering, and client communications.

The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, project managers, site supervisors, and production personnel to transform raw technical information into clear, accurate, and professional documents.

Responsibilities

  • Interview engineers, project managers, supervisors, and field personnel to gather technical and operational information.
  • Review journals, reports, drawings, specifications, and other source materials to understand construction methods, materials, and project requirements.
  • Observe construction, development, and testing activities to document procedures, workflows, and project details accurately.
  • Assist in planning and laying out materials for publication and internal distribution.
  • Analyze updates in construction methods, standards, regulations, and project requirements to determine the need for revisions to existing documents or the development of new materials.
  • Convert raw notes, engineering data, and field information into well-organized, readable documents.
  • Format, edit, and organize technical documents to ensure consistency, clarity, and professional presentation.
  • Prepare and edit documents such as construction reports, technical reports, safety manuals, project summaries, client reports, white papers, presentations, newsletters, proposals, and business documents.
  • Communicate edits, corrections, and document changes to engineers, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with a team of writers, editors, engineers, and project staff to produce high-quality documentation.
  • Ensure all documents comply with company standards, industry practices, and applicable construction regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Business Writing, Journalism, Communications, English, Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience working with technical documents; construction or engineering documentation experience is preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and formatting skills.
  • Ability to understand technical content and present it clearly for different audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other document preparation tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, managers, and field teams.
  • Knowledge of construction terminology, project documentation, and safety-related content is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in a construction, engineering, or infrastructure environment.
  • Familiarity with technical reports, standard operating procedures, method statements, and project documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and handle confidential project information.
