Job Summary
To lead and manage the business continuity function by embedding a best-in-class business continuity management culture within DIL underpinned by the Business Continuity Continuum of Time. Involved in the proper implementation of the Group’s business continuity management framework comprising its policies, procedures and tools, in line with best practice. Assists with advising senior management on the identification, measurement and proper treatment of business continuity threats. Assists with training and motivating all staff to be BCM aware and for BCM preparedness and liaises with key stakeholders where necessary thereby ensuring all likely and emerging business continuity threats are adequately mitigated and monitored in accordance with the Group’s Risk Policies.T
To conduct emerging risk scanning using proactive threat intelligence tools and continuously scanning the entire environment for vulnerabilities, exposures, emanating threats, global risks and their impact to the organization on a daily basis.
Business Continuity Activities
General Activities:
- To ensure an effective, robust and auditable Enterprise Business Continuity Management (BCM) Governance framework that is consistent with general regulatory requirements and industry best practices/standards is developed, maintained and adhered to across the organization to ensure that the Group is appropriately prepared for, and can respond to unexpected disruptions to normal activities.
- To provide the GCRO with a daily view of emerging threats and vulnerabilities which require immediate attention and attention.
- Ensure that all Business Continuity materials and documents (such as plans, emergency response procedures, call trees, test results, etc.) are developed, produced, updated and maintained with versioning as required.
- Ensure that recovery team structures are identified and team members aware of responsibilities and are trained to be proactive.
- Work closely with all functional areas to develop and maintain DR plans for critical systems and applications and to ensure that internal recovery sites are updated and functioning properly.
- Liaise with Business Continuity Coordinators to develop effective working relationships.
- To lead the crisis management team in the event of a business interruption and develop required status reports (e.g., report cards) on development of business continuity plans and report any incident within an hour to the GCRO.
- Assist with developing recovery strategies that will enable DIL and its Business Units to resume normal operations as soon as possible following a crisis.
- Report all threats and emerging threats to Business Continuity and ensure that contingency plans are developed to address key business continuity risks identified.
- Ensure continuous BCM awareness across the organization to ensure all stakeholders’ preparedness in the event of disruptive events.
Business Continuity Testing and Simulation:
- Plan and coordinate all business continuity testing across all functions.
- Ensure that company files are backed up, stored and tested as required.
- Maintain procedures for testing all call trees and recovery plans in the organization.
- Ensure readiness for audits across all functional areas.
Other BCM Support Functions:
- Analyze and report on implications of regulatory requirements and industry guidance on the Group’s BCP or DR framework and supporting tools.
- Monitor and ensure timely close-out of recommended controls for mitigating identified risks with a regular update to the GCRO.
Reporting:
- To prepare periodic reports to EXCO and the Board and such other reports that may be required from time to time on Business Continuity Management. Reports must meet expected standard in terms of quality and integrity.
- Daily emergency brief with the GCRO.
- Monitoring of all BCM related loss incidents and reporting of relevant key risks to the GCRO.
Qualification and Experience Required
- HND/Bachelor’s Degree in a Risk, Insurance, IT, Engineering required
- Masters’ degree in a relevant field of study or relevant professional qualification would be an advantage
- Being either a Certified Business Continuity Professional or Master Business Continuity Professional is an added advantage.
- 12 years or more risk management, insurance and engineering experience in manufacturing or financial services experience required
- Knowledge of information security, business continuity and financial metrics required
- Good interpersonal skills with strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills
