In this role, you'll:
Transform complex data into clear, engaging, and interactive visualisations that help people make informed decisions. Working within Sydney Metro's data team, you'll design, build, and maintain high-quality dashboards and reporting solutions that make data accessible, meaningful, and actionable across the organisation.
This role combines technical expertise with collaboration and problem-solving. You will work closely with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure visualisations are built on trusted data models and meet business needs. Your work will directly support decision-making across one of NSW's largest public transport projects, helping improve asset performance, service delivery, and project outcomes.

About you
You are an experienced Data Visualisation or Business Intelligence professional with advanced, hands-on expertise in Power BI. You enjoy turning complex information into intuitive dashboards and reports that provide clear insights and support better business decisions. You understand both the technical and business side of data and can work effectively with stakeholders to translate requirements into practical visualisation solutions.
You bring strong Power BI, DAX, and SQL skills, along with an understanding of data modelling and modern data platforms. You are passionate about data quality, governance, and continuous improvement, and you enjoy collaborating with technical teams to deliver reliable and high-performing reporting solutions.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Extensive hands-on experience with Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, dashboard development, and performance optimisation
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets
- Understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling concepts
- Experience gathering and translating stakeholder requirements into effective reporting and visualisation solutions
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and reporting best practices
- Ability to work collaboratively with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience establishing or promoting visualisation standards and best practices
