The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is seeking a Business Analyst for the Auditing Standard No. 5 (AS5/COSO/SOX) function. The AS 5 team partners with and assists Bank management in assessing the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and facilitates the AS 5 COSO/SOX program for the Bank. The Analyst will interact with management and control performers across Bank divisions.

This position requires a regular on-site presence. This position does not sponsor any type of employment visas.

The AS 5 business analyst’s primary responsibility includes partnering with business lines to assess the design of internal controls and complete key control testing on behalf of division management. 

AS 5 responsibilities:

  • Understand respective division processes, risks, and internal controls.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of ICFR by conducting testing of department identified internal key controls.
  • Follow Federal Reserve System and Ninth District AS 5 guidance on testing and documenting work.
  • Prepare and submit testing workpapers for approval while meeting key deadlines in the AS 5 testing cycle.
  • Assist or lead in preparing reports, developing presentations and providing training.
  • Interact with various levels of department staff and management as appropriate. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five (5) or more years of analytical and/or project management experience to include experience assessing internal controls. An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
  • Preferred: Coursework in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or in a related field.
  • Strong critical thinking, able to voice perspectives appropriately while supporting final decisions with professionalism and commitment.
  • Experience in communicating and presenting recommendations to various business lines and multiple levels of staff.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet Explorer.
  • Certification desirable (e.g., CPA, CIA, or CISA).

Additional Information:

 The full salary range is for this job profile: Business Analyst III $82,100- $102,675 - $123,200.  The expected starting salary range is $82,100- $102,675. 

 Salary offer will be based on qualifications/experience of the candidate, alignment with market data, the needs of the position, our total compensation package, and internal equity.
