Full description

GST, LLC is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator. This role will be responsible for performing day-to-day database administrative tasks for the different NASA NSPIRES Oracle databases under the NRESS II contract and support the teams that use them. Applicants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the NSPIRES system (https://nspires.nasaprs.com/external/) prior to applying.

This position has been approved for a local remote schedule, but the individual should be flexible if in person meetings in the Arlington, VA office is required.

Primary Duties:

  • Experience with backup, restore and recovery of databases including the use of RMAN (Oracle Recovery Manager)
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with Oracle 19G, the Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control, and MySQL
  • Creating Oracle databases according to established parameters
  • Performing upgrades of the database and software to new release levels
  • Managing the storage structures of the database, the users, and security
  • Managing database objects, such as tables, indexes, and views
  • Backing up the database and performing recovery operations when necessary
  • Monitoring the state of the database and taking preventive or corrective action as required
  • Monitoring and tuning database performance
  • Owning, tracking, and resolving database related incidents and requests
  • Fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within service-level-agreements (SLAs)
  • Reviewing service-related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs
  • Responding to database related alerts and escalations, diagnosing and reporting critical errors and working with Oracle Support Services.
  • Managing, maintaining and backing up a MySQL database
  • Experience writing scripts in Perl, SQL and the Linux OS
  • MS Word, Excel, Outlook, SQL Developer
  • Good communication and documentation skills.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's in computer science or related field
  • 10 years of general experience, including 5 years of experience with DBMS, systems design and analysis, operating system software, and internal and data manipulation language. Years towards degree can substitute for experience.

Salary at GST is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $135,000 to $155,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of the GST total compensation package for employees.
