About the Role

We're looking for a people-first and technically grounded Engineering Manager to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams delivering quality products across Hyland's enterprise platforms. In this role, you'll combine strong leadership instincts with technical depth — guiding your team through complex delivery cycles, aligning engineering execution to product vision, and fostering a culture of quality, agility, and continuous improvement.

You'll collaborate closely with technical leaders, product owners, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure your team is set up for success. You'll also champion the adoption of AI-assisted and agentic AI engineering practices — helping your team work smarter, move faster, and build with greater confidence. Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do.

• Ensure the delivery of timely, high-quality results by collaborating with internal stakeholders to align the team with a prioritized backlog, contributing to technical solutions, and helping define user stories that reflect business requirements and product vision.

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team through the full software development lifecycle — proactively identifying roadblocks, providing technical guidance, promoting a culture of security, quality, and engineering agility, and removing barriers to team productivity.

• Establish and execute department processes, benchmarks, and standards; assess team performance against quality metrics, hold direct reports accountable to defined performance standards, and continuously improve processes through effective communication and change leadership.

• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate and achieve mutual goals; manage budgets responsibly and contribute to financial planning in alignment with department objectives.

• Serve as an escalation point for complex issues; provide guidance, resolve obstacles for the team, and operate as a thought leader who contributes to the overall growth, quality, and direction of the engineering organization.

• Champion AI-assisted and agentic AI engineering practices across the team; mentor and coach engineers through personal and professional growth — building functional expertise, communication skills, and identifying future leaders within the organization.

Role Essentials

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; relevant software industry experience with demonstrated technical skills to effectively manage and lead technical engineering teams.

• Experience with Agile, Scrum, or equivalent methodologies; demonstrated fiscal responsibility and accountability in managing budgets and contributing to financial planning processes.

• Excellent leadership, sound judgment, and business acumen; strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

• Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills — both oral and written — with the ability to interact with discretion and tact across all levels of the organization, including customers, peers, and leadership.

• Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members; strong organizational, prioritization, and facilitation skills; proficiency with CI/CD principles and Microsoft tools including Outlook and productivity platforms.

What We'd Like to See

• Hands-on familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) and agentic AI frameworks for autonomous workflow orchestration within engineering teams.

• Experience leading teams building AI-enabled product features, LLM integrations, or intelligent automation solutions at enterprise scale.

• Experience with agentic AI patterns — including multi-agent orchestration, tool-use, and autonomous task execution — and the ability to guide engineering teams in adopting these practices responsibly.

• Exposure to LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG architectures, or AI-powered developer productivity enhancements integrated into software delivery workflows.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging, informative presentations to technical and non-technical audiences; experience with data analytics and performance reporting for engineering teams.
