About the role

Join the Analytics & Strategic Insights team, in the Data Scientist II position. In this role, you will use data, analytics, and automation to help solve business challenges, identify trends and risks, and support better decision-making across the organization.

You will work with a variety of data sources and collaborate with business partners, subject matter experts, and technology teams to deliver insights and innovative solutions that support CMHC's strategic objectives.

This is a temporary position with a duration of 13 months.

What you'll do:

  • Analyze complex data and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Build and maintain predictive models, forecasts, and analytical solutions.
  • Prepare, integrate, and validate data from multiple sources.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and automated processes to improve efficiency.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to support business decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What you should have:

  • A degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in data science, analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • A proficiency with Python, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets and developing analytical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Experience presenting insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Knowledge of mortgage loan insurance (MLI), mortgage finance, regulatory reporting, lending, risk management, or financial services.
  • An experience with designing automated monitoring frameworks, predictive risk indicators, or machine learning solutions.
  • A data science or artificial intelligence certifications. Familiarity with machine learning, predictive analytics, or automation.
  • A relevant certifications in data science, analytics, or artificial intelligence.
