Full description
Our Purpose
TERADYNE, where experience meets innovation and driving excellence in every connection. We are fueled by a commitment to our customers and a passion for making AI useful inside our own business, not just in our products.
The Opportunity
The AI enablement team, part of the Teradyne AI organization, is accelerating the deployment of AI-augmented workflows across the entire organization. As Technical Lead Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering, you lead a regional pod of Forward Deployed Engineers while remaining its primary technical expert.
This is a technical leadership role first. You architect solutions, establish reusable patterns, and stay hands-on in delivery, while also managing a team of three to ten engineers.
You own AI enablement outcomes for your region, working with business units that sit in your time zone and reporting into the Central AI team. Regional pods cover the Americas, Europe, and Asia, and you will partner with your peer TLMs to keep tooling, patterns and quality consistent worldwide.
Responsibilities
• Set the technical direction for your region's AI enablement work: solution architecture, platform choices, reusable patterns, and the quality bar for what ships.
• Stay hands-on. Build alongside your team on the hardest deployments rather than reviewing from a distance.
• Lead, coach and grow a regional team of Forward Deployed Engineers; own hiring, performance and career development for your pod.
• Own the relationship with business units in your region — diagnose workflow bottlenecks, scope what AI can realistically solve, and turn that into a prioritized pipeline.
• Establish baselines and track measurable business outcomes for every deployment; discontinue initiatives that are not delivering measurable value.
• Coordinate dotted-line contributors — engineers who remain in their own business unit while focusing part of their time on AI enablement — and make them effective without direct authority.
• Partner with Corporate IT on platform, data, security and compliance so regional solutions can scale to the enterprise.
• Contribute to a continuous improvement culture and share patterns across regions so a solution built once is deployed many times.

• Hands-on experience with modern AI platforms and frameworks (Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar)
• Strong full-stack development skills with modern programming languages and frameworks
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken; comfortable with senior business stakeholders
• Business outcome orientation with the ability to connect technical work to measurable metrics, and the judgement to stop work that is not paying off
• Willingness to travel within your region to work alongside the teams you support
What Will Make You Stand Out
• A Master's degree in computer science, Machine Learning, or related field
• Experience building and running a distributed or multi-site engineering team
• Experience with Microsoft ecosystem tools like Power Platform, Graph API, or Azure AI Search
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks (LangGraph, etc.), local model inference (Ollama), and MCP
• Background in prompt engineering, RAG architectures, vector databases, or LLM fine-tuning
• Understanding of enterprise AI considerations (security, compliance, data governance)
• Experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, customer-embedded engineering roles, solutions engineering, or technical consulting.
• Semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, or industrial automation domain experience
