Position Summary

Pond is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with Data Center experience to join our growing team in Bogotá, Colombia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the design and delivery of mission-critical electrical infrastructure for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data centers. This individual will play a key role in developing reliable, resilient, and scalable electrical systems that support the demanding operational requirements of data center environments.

The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout all phases of project delivery, from planning and conceptual design through construction support and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for data centers and other mission-critical facilities, including medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems.
  • Develop electrical calculations, studies, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Design and coordinate critical power infrastructure including utility service entrances, substations, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, transformers, and grounding systems.
  • Perform load calculations, short-circuit analyses, coordination studies, arc flash evaluations, and reliability assessments.
  • Support electrical designs for redundancy architectures including N, N+1, 2N, and distributed redundant systems.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with structural, civil, mechanical, architectural, and telecommunications disciplines.
  • Participate in design reviews, quality assurance processes, and technical evaluations.
  • Support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittal reviews, field observations, and issue resolution.
  • Assist with commissioning support and startup activities for mission-critical facilities.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices related to mission-critical power systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, including direct involvement in data center or mission-critical facility projects.
  • Experience designing medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of standby power generation systems, UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, and grounding systems.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, and construction documents.
  • Proficiency with electrical design and analysis software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with power system studies, electrical coordination, and arc flash analysis.
  • Strong communication and interdisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Professional-level proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, Colombian professional registration, or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or large-scale cloud data center developments.
  • Knowledge of U.S. and international codes and standards including NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, IEC, and applicable local regulations.
  • Experience with data center commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and operational readiness activities.
  • Familiarity with BIM/Revit workflows and multidisciplinary coordination processes.
  • Experience working with international clients and globally distributed project teams.
