Full description

Reports to: Finance Operations Associate / Supervisor

Contract Type: Full-time

Location: Abuja (Hybrid)

Charles Ardor makes its clients' financials reliable and helps them understand what the figures mean. Our clients rely on those figures to run their businesses, so the work has to be right. The Finance Operations Analyst works at the foundation of that process, preparing and checking the financial information that the review team builds on. You will work with clients and internal team members. You will handle reconciliations, invoices, financial schedules, month-end activities, and tax and payroll-related work within your scope. This is not a data-entry role. You are expected to understand what you are working with, notice when something does not look right, and investigate it within your level of responsibility.

What this looks like in practice:

  • You

work with the financial records. You process or review transactions, invoices, bills, postings, and other accounting information, and ensure the records are properly maintained.

  • You

reconcile the figures. You perform bank and other relevant reconciliations, investigate differences, and follow through on outstanding items.

  • You

check the work. You run preliminary checks on client financial information, including trial balances, reconciliations, and previous correction directives, and flag anything that requires further attention.

  • You

support month-end close. You assist with accruals, prepayments, and other required month-end entries and prepare the schedules and supporting information needed for the close.

  • You

support tax and payroll work. You prepare tax computations and draft VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other relevant statutory work from the available information for further review. Where applicable, you also support payroll checks, including PAYE, pension, and other statutory deductions.

You maintain engagement records. You keep engagement trackers and workpapers updated on Zoho Projects.

  • You

investigate discrepancies. When figures do not agree, or something looks unusual, you look into the underlying records, identify what is causing the issue where possible, and provide the relevant information for further review.

  • You

follow things through. You track previous correction directives, follow up on missing documents and information, and make sure outstanding items do not get lost.

  • You

work across teams. You communicate with associates, other finance team members, clients, and other relevant teams to obtain information, clarify issues, resolve outstanding items, and keep work moving.

  • You

improve as you go. You apply feedback to your work, build your accounting and analytical skills, and improve the standard, accuracy, and independence of your work over time.

What Good Looks Like After 3–6 Months

At this stage, we are not expecting you to know everything or be fully proficient in every part of the role. We expect to see clear progress from where you started and a stronger understanding of how the firm's work is done.

  • You understand the firm's systems,

processes, and expectations for client work.

  • You are becoming more confident and

consistent with financial checks, and reconciliations.

  • You can identify common

discrepancies, understand when further investigation is needed, and know when to seek guidance.

  • You have developed a stronger

working understanding of the tax, payroll, and statutory requirements relevant to your work.

  • You understand how correction

directives and outstanding items are tracked and followed through.

  • You communicate effectively across

teams and with clients when requesting information, clarifying issues, or following up on outstanding work.

  • You are applying feedback and

showing improvement in the accuracy, organization, and overall standard of your work.

  • You are becoming more confident with

the accounting systems, Excel/Google Sheets, and other tools required for your work.

  • You are taking increasing ownership

of your responsibilities while knowing when to ask questions or seek guidance.
