Ko tā mātou mahi – About the Role

As a Senior Security Engineer, you’ll play a senior technical role within our Cyber Defence Operations team. This role is ideal for someone who is Microsoft-centric, deeply comfortable with modern endpoint and cloud security, and ready to step up as a technical authority across managed security services.

You’ll provide advanced technical expertise across our security platforms, support incident response and investigations, and help customers continuously improve their security posture. Alongside managed services, you’ll also contribute to customer-facing Engage activities, supporting investigations, security uplift, and advisory outcomes.

  • Acting as a technical SME for managed security services, with a strong Microsoft security focus
  • Shaping and improving security services, including onboarding new customers
  • Providing advanced analysis and response to security alerts and incidents
  • Serving as a senior escalation point for complex investigations
  • Improving detection and response through tuning, enrichment, automation, and orchestration
  • Mentoring analysts and lifting investigation capability across the team
  • Supporting customer Engage work, including investigations, security uplift, and advisory activities
  • Building trusted relationships with customers, partners, and technology vendors

Nā tōu rourou – What you will bring

  • Strong experience across Microsoft security technologies (Defender, Sentinel, endpoint, and cloud security)
  • Solid understanding of modern EDR/XDR platforms (CrowdStrike exposure beneficial)
  • Experience working in SOC, MDR, or cyber defence operations
  • Confidence handling escalated incidents and complex investigations
  • A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in mentoring others

Nōu te rourou – Why Kordia?

Here, you’ll work on meaningful, real-world cyber challenges, protecting organisation’s and critical services across New Zealand and beyond. Your expertise will directly influence how threats are detected, incidents are handled, and security services evolve.

We offer a competitive salary, matched superannuation up to 5%, insurance benefits, and additional leave entitlements. We also support flexible working, with a hybrid model that balances time in the office with working from home.

Our preference is for a Wellington-based candidate, however we would consider strong applicants from Christchurch or Auckland.
