About the team & role

The Business Analyst is a critical team member working closely with the Portfolio Lead, Business owners and the Product teams to ensure successful execution of key initiatives in the Provider Organization.  He / she plays a central role in the day to day execution of the Provider Organization agile delivery.

The Business Analyst will be part of a very energetic and enthusiastic team leading innovative initiatives meant to exponentially transform the provider experience and internal operations. He / she will be assigned to Value Streams, offering the candidate an unique position to follow through from idea inception, intake submission, until work breakdown, delivery, testing and release. 

A Value Stream is a relatively new agile concept in Cigna used to describe the sequence of steps used to deliver value to the customer (e.g. provider, client, internal employee). It includes the whole sequence to delivery of value and the people who do the work, the systems, and the flow of information and materials. Example: the sum of steps required to pay a provider claim from claim submission until payment and confirmation of payment is released can be a value stream.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Portfolio Lead and Business Owners in identifying the pain point and potential opportunity to improve the provider or operational experience
  • Support analysing and sizing the initiative impact
  • For prioritized initiatives, help identify and onboard relevant experts
  • Ensure experts and agile delivery teams are connected and collaborate accordingly at each step in the agile delivery journey
  • Ensure experts are familiar with agile ceremonies and attend, as and when needed
  • Collaborate with product teams to analyse and document business requirements, ensuring they are well-understood and actionable for delivery teams.
  • Run analysis, mapping and investigations to support solution design
  • Contribute to discovery sessions lead by Product teams
  • Drive a culture of learning and adaptation by identifying opportunities for process refinement and actively contributing to agile best practices across teams.
  • Work closely with Product teams to monitor and report product performance
  • Support the intake submission process as and when needed

Skills and Competencies Required

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, process engineering, agile delivery, with a strong track record of successful delivery of commitments.
  • Experience in one of these areas is a plus: Eligibility, Claims, Pre-authorization, Network, Strategy, Finance, Change management
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess complex business processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively with product teams, agile delivery teams, and subject matter experts to achieve shared goals.
  • Excellent facilitation of meetings, workshops, defining clear agenda, writing minutes and following up on actions agreed
  • Adaptability: Thrives in fast-paced, change-driven environments and embraces a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
  • Agile Mindset and certification are desirable.  Understands agile methodologies and actively contributes to agile best practices and ceremonies. Training and coaching will be provided in the role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field; Master’s degree is an asset.
