Senior Java Developer

This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems for a large-scale digital commerce platform. You will contribute to distributed systems that support millions of customers and substantial traffic volumes. The role combines hands-on Java development with system architecture, cloud-native technologies, and event-driven design. You will help shape technical solutions while contributing to availability, performance, resilience, and operational excellence. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you will help solve complex production challenges and continuously improve the platform. Accountabilities: As a Senior Java Developer, you will design and develop robust backend solutions while contributing to the scalability, reliability, and performance of a customer-facing digital platform. You will collaborate across engineering and technical teams to deliver high-quality systems and continuously improve development and operational practices.

• Design, develop, and implement large-scale distributed systems capable of handling substantial data volumes and traffic.

• Build scalable, fault-tolerant, and low-latency backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

• Design and implement APIs and event-driven solutions supporting reliable system communication.

• Develop and maintain cloud-native backend services with a focus on scalability, availability, and performance.

• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues across application, service, infrastructure, and integration layers.

• Develop and execute unit, API, regression, and performance tests to ensure system quality and reliability.

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to investigate incidents and deliver rapid, effective resolutions.

• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and technical decisions.

• Optimize system performance, scalability, availability, and operational efficiency.

• Contribute to continuous improvements across CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and engineering workflows.

• Work with event streaming technologies and distributed data processing patterns.

• Help identify opportunities to improve system resilience, maintainability, and overall customer experience.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer with a strong foundation in Java and distributed systems. You should be comfortable working on high-scale platforms, solving complex technical problems, contributing to architecture decisions, and collaborating effectively within international engineering teams.

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.

• Hands-on experience designing and deploying scalable, highly available distributed systems.

• Strong understanding of event-driven architectures and experience with Kafka or other event streaming technologies.

• Experience working with AWS and EKS or comparable cloud and container orchestration environments.

• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related development and deployment tools.

• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Strong understanding of scalability, fault tolerance, availability, performance, and reliability principles.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex production issues.

• Experience designing and implementing APIs and backend services.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a remote and international team environment.

• Advanced English proficiency at C1 level or higher.
