System Administrator
Responsibilities and Duties
- Administer, maintain, monitor, and support enterprise systems and infrastructure supporting Operations and Sustainment activities.
- Provide operational support for geospatial platforms and applications, including ESRI, MapView, CFATS, and supporting GIS technology stacks.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain operating systems, middleware, application servers, and enterprise software.
- Monitor system health, performance, availability, and capacity to ensure reliable and continuous operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, application, and system integration issues.
- Perform routine maintenance activities, including system updates, patch deployment, backup validation, and configuration management.
- Support administration of GIS environments, geospatial databases, map services, and web-based mapping applications.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with organizational security policies and procedures.
- Coordinate system changes, upgrades, and releases to minimize operational disruptions.
- Support disaster recovery, backup, and continuity of operations activities.
- Perform root cause analysis for system outages, performance degradation, and operational incidents.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, operational procedures, and support guides.
- Collaborate with developers, engineers, database administrators, and cybersecurity teams to support system enhancements and operational improvements.
- Support implementation of cybersecurity requirements, vulnerability remediation, and compliance initiatives.
- Monitor and maintain system logs, alerts, and operational dashboards to identify issues and improve service delivery.
- Support cloud-hosted and on-premises environments as required by customer operations.
- Participate in incident management, problem management, and change management processes.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to system users, administrators, and support personnel.
- Assist in supervising junior administrators, support staff, and contractors performing operational activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, system reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience administering and supporting IT systems, applications, or infrastructure.
- Experience providing operational support and sustainment for enterprise technology environments.
- Experience with system administration activities, including software installation, patch management, account administration, and system monitoring.
- Familiarity with ESRI technologies, GIS platforms, geospatial applications, and supporting infrastructure.
- Experience supporting MapView, CFATS, or other mission-support platforms preferred.
- Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems and associated system administration functions.
- Experience troubleshooting infrastructure, application, and system performance issues.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical guidance or supervising technical personnel.
- Familiarity with IT service management processes, including incident, problem, and change management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability determination, Public Trust, Secret, or higher security clearance as required by the contract.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and/or Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) operational environments.
- Experience administering ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, or related GIS technologies.
- Experience supporting geospatial databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with map services, geospatial data publishing, and GIS application sustainment.
- Experience supporting cloud environments including AWS or Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening requirements.
- Experience with automated monitoring, scripting, and operational reporting tools.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based service management practices.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, Linux+, Microsoft Certified, AWS Cloud Practitioner, GISP, Esri Technical Certification, or equivalent.
